The "best keeper in the country" shouldn't be going for walkabouts with the football when you have Kerry on the rack with a couple of minutes to go.

Up until then he was a dead cert for an All-Star I thought but now, maybe not. To be fair if a few players had shown for him, he probably wouldn't have gotten into that mess but I know, he shouldn't have been messin with the ball in the first place. Ah well, next year eh?

Sure I'm a Meath man! He can prance about with the ball all he wants next year aswell. ;)
Seriously, though, what a foolish thing for him to do. I don't think it was a matter of nobody showing for the ball, either. To my mind it was grandstanding at a time when Dublin were playing exceptional football. All he's got to do is let the ball off, good and long. The Dubs were winning most clean and breaking ball in the middle at the time. Kerry were rattled, O' Se was back on but clearly not right. Why even take a solo?! Why give Kerry a second to breath? Much less gift them the ball, a point and yet another Sam Maguire.
Kerry are Kerry. I'm not going to agree with Dave when he says Cluxton cost Dublin the game because you never know what Kerry and that group of players is capable of even with a couple of minutes to go, even without any help from the opposition goalkeeper. But any chance Dublin had, and it was a big one at that point, went right out the window with his cross pitch trek.
As for the All-Star? It's not All Star's they want, it's Sam.

Dave, would you get rid of Pillar? Done all he can do, or what's your take?

you cant hang the man for one mistake.only for him derry would have beat dublin.he was no more to blame than ray cosgrove who missed a glorious chance or mark vaughan missing an easy free in front of the hill.dublin should count themselves lucky to have a keeper of his quality.i wish tyrone had one like him!

Ray Cosgrove is only in the team because of 1 exceptional (maybe lucky?) year he had back in 02. Ever since then he's been rubbish and should not be allowed carry the water bottles, never mind tog out for a game.
