What do we think?

1. Explosive kick returner.
2. Veteran Offensive lineman and Defensive lineman - the bigger the better!
3. Good acquisitions in free agency.
4. Keeping the core of the squad together. Things are looking good and I genuinely believe we were only one or two players short of getting to the Superbowl.

Anyone know if there is a list of free agents available?

You've missed depth in the secondary, last night and the Pitt. game showed we can't match up against teams who spread it out.

Agree with pretty much everything else. Trouble is, it's not going to be a deep FA class what with it being an uncapped year.

I can't see us splashing out in F.A. When we got to the playoffs in '07 I think the only F.A we got in was Brandon Chillar. I suspect we'll look to bolster the O-Line (if possible) in the Draft, and hope we pick up some late round 'finds' for added depth. Otherwise we'll likely see the same players back (perhaps minus Aaron Kampman).

Pretty much agree with what has been said before,

Depth on the O-Line is a must Tauscher and Clifton are on their last legs. Lang looks to be a decent player.

Depth in the secondary would be good although we were hit quiet hard in that area this season with injury.

A kick returner would be great, Cribbs looks the part but seems to be looking for big money?

Id maybe try keep Kampman see if he can fit with another season under his belt?

1. Tackles. Biggest concern for many. Although you could give Tauscher and Clifton another shot at starting, you have to think Thompson will be keen to get a young tackle settled in the system early. T.J Lang did a good job, and may be an answer at one side.
2. Cornerback. Al Harris may not be at his best for a while and Pat Lee can't get on the field. Some better quality depth here is a must.
3. OLB. Kampman's career in GB remains up in the air. Although Brad Jones is athletic, he's not much of a pass rusher.
4. Safety. Anthony Smith was the sort of depth we should be aiming at, Giardano and Martin may offer something for special teams but are unlikely to ever be pushing for a starting spot.
5. Running back. Although Ryan Grant is consistent he's not someone defences fear and rarely cracks the 100 yard mark in a game.

The injuries to the secondry were crucial this year especially because it seems with Capers scheme we are nearly always in nickel or dime.

We have guys but lets face it we don't really know if they can cut it, apart from Bush whom we know can't, lets see who we have

Charles Woodson - Nothing to be said.

Al Harris - Will he be back next year ? if he is will he be back to 100% we all know he was slowing down but he's a vet and a leader, could he become a nickle back ?

Tramon Williams - has improved but still gets burnt, will he ever be more than a nickle back ?

Pat Lee - He'll be in his 3rd year next year and we haven't seen a whole load of him due to injury, could he be the answer ?

Will Blackmon - A guy who's been really unlucky with injuries, i love the guy as a special teamer but he's no more than a nickle/dime back.

Brandon Underwood - a rookie who's seen some playing time, the coaches reckon he's come on in the second half of the season and his a fast guy, but atm its to early to know if he's going to make it.

Josh Bell - Signed as a FA when Harris went down, Not sure if he'll be back next year, saw some time and gave up that last second play against the Steelers.

Trevor Ford - Rookie FA that we don't know much about.

Some of these guys won't be back but It seems on paper like we have the depth there but there are a few unknowns atm with Harris/Blackmon & Lee all on injured reserve, i'm sure come FA/Draft time we'll know wether these guys will be coming back and if we need to draft depth or starting material.

Like you said the problem is a number of these guys are such unknown quantaties, the Pat Lee situation is a bit like the one with Justin Harrell, fairly high pick that we have not seen any production from because of injuries. This has to be a concern considering a number of these are coming without even playing a down in a regular game.

I may sound harsh but there are a number of players that because of age and injuries it may be better letting go.

I still feel the O Line is the most important need, especially considering Clifton's injuries and age. There are a number of tackles possibly entering free agency however consider Ted's reluctance to open the cheque book I think this should be aknowledged as our number 1 priorty.

But if you look at YPC Grant is pretty impressive, also he is very good at not turning the ball over. Problem is with depth, Green was a mid season pick up and I'm not convinced he will be there next year, Jackson is alright but certainly was not worth a 2nd round pick, you can get guys in off the street that can do what he offers....and Wynn, well he can pack his bags with Bush this season and go to pastures new. Still think it was silly letting Sutton go after an impressive pre season outing.

Jackson's been great at blitz pickup (something we kept Deshawn Wynn around for), but I'd like to see Ryan Grant in the second spot where Green is and look to get a better back. Rodgers is picking up great stats, but the weight of the offence seems entirely on his shoulders. Grant has been useful, but if we want to progress we need something more.

One thing that bugs me this season was the promise of Capers defence. Not saying it's Capers fault, perhaps it's more the players lack of familliarity, but the blitzing was basic in execution at times. It was great against lesser teams, but we need it to be at a far higher standard. Pressure is key and I felt in the bigger games (Vikings, Steelers, Cards) we weren't able to generate anything. If we want to get to the SB we need to blitz much better.

I don't agree with demoting Grant behind someone, we just need to get a fast back who can compliment him and who has good hands. RBs in our system are never going to put up over 100 yards consistently as we are built to be a passing team.

Now Bulaga's declared I wouldn't mind him, I think could probably play either tackle position in a couple of years but a great fit for RT right now. We could get Syd'Quan Thompson or any of the second tier corners in the second round.

I'll echo what Merch has just said, i'm happy with Grant as a starter we just need a change of pace back who we could use as a kick/punt returner.

His production this year you cannot fault, he scored 11TD's with 1 fumble and averaged 4.4 YPC, he rushed for the 7th most yards this year and i'd say thats pretty impressive for a guy playing on a pass orientated team, you look at the teams that QB's threw for the amount of Yards Rodgers did and none of their backs gets near what Grant did.

We won't get anybody in the draft at the position we are drafting that will be better than Grant and i doubt there will be a FA available who is better.

Not an immediate need I agree, and I wouldn't mind a change of pace back to work with Grant.
