We had a chance to keep Welker, but opted to trade him...as for weakening rivals, its not necessarily that as they have as far as Miami are concerned, tended to be players who's time with the team has run its course, but with Belichick it tends to be what inside info he may be able to obtain, like Nate Jones or Brandon Gibson. But he also turns busted flushes like Larry Izzo & Rob Ninkovich into Pro-Bowlers

reports that the Raiders and Derek Carr are close to finishing his contract extension and his deal will average over $25m a year with reports of him earning $75m over the 1st 3 years.

2 years $6.5m with only $1.5m guaranteed.guess he can fill a role for the Patriots and if Hightower stays healthy wont have to play more the 50% of the snaps on defence.feels like the Chris Long type pick-up from last year, guy wanting a Ring but also should be good locker room guys.the rich get richer.

Wasn't it Harris who was ditched following practice one day? I can well imagine why he wouldn't be upset at signing for the Patriots and annoying the Jets

In theory yes the Bills could have kept Gilmore if they agreed to pay a middle of the road cornerback superstar money. They never were going to pay him the crazy money he was demanding

guess this is the life of a veteran player, pretty much every team trys to squeeze players of a certain age over there salary.think whatever the Jets offered him as part of re-doing his number the pats offered more so as much a business deal as just wanting to stick it to the Jets.

Andy Reid has signed a contract extension with the Chiefs...

EDIT: And the Chiefs have now parted company with GM John Dorsey...

How on earth does that work? First letting Maclin go and now giving Reid a new contract. 2 average decisions.

To be fair, Reid has taken them from number 1 draft pick to the best regular season record for the last season and a half.
