Also like Weeds,Boston Legal and the now defunct...Huff, West Wing, and Six Feet Under.

Boston Legal is criminally (excuse the pun) underrated.
I've just finished watching the first two series and have just been watching them one after another.
Spader and Shatner are brilliant as Alan Shore and Denny Crane.

Also looking forward to the return of Friday Night Lights and most of all Battlestar Galactica, especially after the cliffhanger at the end of season 3. Usually detest sci-fi stuff like Star Trek/Stargate, etc.. but BG is one of my favourite programmes

I'm a big fan of The Wire, and got really into watching the first series of Heroes too - though they are completely different shows. i recommend buying The Wire season by season, and watching all the episodes over the course of a few evenings.

Sorry to rain down on you Dude, but The Wire from HBO on the FX Channel makes The Shield look like Bambi in the headlights of a 60 tonner bearing down on it
[/quote]

That is very unfair. Both The Wire and The Shield are excellent programmes and way above average quality.

Agreed. My biggest worry was that it would be another Ally McBeal and after a good start end up descending into self-parody and believing its own hype. There has been a little bit of that with some of the characters, but thankfully not enough to ruin the programme which is still very good.

And Spader and Shatner are the best comedy double act on TV. It is no surprise they won back-to-back Emmy's for the first season of Boston Legal as well as the final season of The Practice. That is the show from which it was spunoff and though totally different (just drama rather than a comedy one) was itself excellent and is now airing on More 4 on an afternoon, having previously been on Sky one, ITV, BBC one, BBC Choice, and ITV3!

Another underrated programme, which I do not know if is currently airing, is Monk which airs first on BBC TWO before being endlessly repeated on Hallmark. It is about a detective who is kind of like a cross between Columbo and Sherlock Holmes but with OCD.

Michael.

Please tell i'm not the only person on here who watched all of Day Break.
That show was pure genius. Anyone who hasnt seen it on TV should down it, its only a 13 part series but its extremely clever. Think Groundhog day but with a guy being framed for murder, and he spends the same day trying to clear his name but it keeps repeating, but with tons of weird bits where it all changes and stuff. Awesome show, probably the best i've ever seen
