Seeing as we have out own mini-community, thought it would be a good idea to introduce ourselves. I'll start shall I..........

I'm Chris, 35yo, married with two children and another on the way in October. Live just outside Liverpool and I've followed the Redskins since 1984.

As some of you know, I keep a blog on here (http://forum.nfluk.com/blog.php?u=54800) and I also do stuff for footballdiner.com (http://www.footballdiner.com/) although I don't consider myself a serious scribe.

I also follow Liverpool FC for my sins (no top four for this team this year, get the Yanks and the Spainard out, not a fan).

I work for Walkers Crisps for a living and work wacky shifts but quite enjoy the job, I have a laugh anyway as I refuse to take work too seriously.

Nice idea :)

Well my name's Pete, 39 years old and very happily married. Been a Skins fan since 1981 due to knowing someone who's nephews lived in DC and I needed a team to support!
These days I think I know more about the team than they do ;)

Generally dislike sports but love NFL and watch Formula 1 on occasion. Prefer watching offense to defense (something that seems quite rare) and will cheer a crunching tackle behind the line more than I cheer a TD, but obviously when it's the Skins playing, anything positive has me making noise!

In the real world, I'm an ex-retail manager turned software developer currently working for a sixth form college, and it was like going from the worst job in the world to the best.

Hi ya all, my name`s Lee, i`m 36 and i`ve been a skins` fan since about 1984 watching riggins, monk and theismann etc. I live in Northampton with my wife and two (soon to be three) boys. I work as a vinly graphics manager which is just putting stickers on vans and cars basically, not a bad job. I`m also a Leeds united supporter and have been watching them nearly all my 36 years. Got tickets for this years international series which will be my third time at wembley watching the series, i just hope that i can get the tickets when the skins come over, been lucky so far.

Hi fellow Skins fans, My name is Dean I am 30 years old living with girlfriend
of five years and 3 year old son in Newcastle upon Tyne.
I work full time as Taxi Driver where I normally see the sun go down and rise again
during shifts driving good bad and ugly round the city.
Bit of a NFL virgin compared to the majority of you guys as only started follwing
the sport in the middle of our 5-11 season about 3-4 years back but now have
the bug and it has become my number 1 sport, Also follow Newcastle United
unfortunately and the NBA where my team is the Wizards.

I'm aware that a typical Raiders fan's greeting might involve nothing more than a firm, bloodied, headbutt accompanied by a series of primal grunts but which part of 'Introduce yourselves 'Skins fans' don't you understand?

Anyway, I'm Lee, 37, married. A Redskins fan of 25 years. Our son (nearly 8) insists on supporting my second team Pittsburgh. Not for the rings, you understand, but because they have yellow in their uniform. In fact, caught him just last night playing as the Steelers on his PS2. Working on it.

Good idea, interesting to know a bit about the people behind the usernames...

My name's Harminder, prefer Minder, but if you were to read that you'd think my name was Minder as in the 80's TV show, as opposed to rhyming with "Cinder". I'm used to it now, though. I'm 28 years old and have been a Redskins fan as long as I can remember, so probably about 25 years. It started with me as a toddler, sitting on my Dad's lap watching the old Channel 4 games and barring a couple of years of only having a passing interest as a surly teenager, my love for the Skins has remained strong.

Unlike the first few fans on this thread, I'm not married but that's about to change, having proposed to my girlfriend of nine years this May. I'd always told her I wasn't going to marry her until she could name the 53-man roster, but as she bought me tickets to see the 'Skins-Cards game as a birthday present last year, I had to cut her some slack.

Outside of the forum, I'm a research scientist for a well known healthcare company, whose products you've undoubtedly used at some point in your life. My physical activity of choice is karate and in between that, working and playing Madden I tend to do a lot of cooking.

My name is Matthew, I am 31 years old, married, and have a 3 year old son. I live in Carmarthenshire, West Wales.
I have supported the Redskins since 1986 (I was aged 8 at the time) and loved the NFL at first sight. I recall my first game watched as Jets v Browns in a playoff game that the Browns won 23-20 in OT. My favourite players were the three members of the Posse, Gary Clark, Art Monk and Ricky Sanders (My username on here is an ode to Sanders' SuperBowl XXII performance). Darrell Green was also a legend in my eyes. Charles Mann and Dexter Manley were awesome too.
Players from other teams that I instantly took a liking to were John Elway, Mark Gastineau, Webster Slaughter, Eric Dickerson and Walter Payton.
Best player I have seen has to be Barry Sanders.
Currently favourite players are Clinton Portis and Chris Cooley.

Good idea Gman!

I'm Steven, 25 years old currently living in Edinburgh but born in Northamponshire and lived in the North East for over 10 years. I'm married and our first child, a boy, was born 7 weeks ago to the day (his best pictures yet are in a Skins babygrow I ordered in from the states, got to start him off on the right track ;) )
The Skins have been my NFL team of choice since the late 80's, when me and my Dad watched it on C4 and I picked the Skins because I preferred their helmet logo on the back of a NFL annual one Christmas (lame reason but stuck with them ever since)! Really actively started following them again around 2000 when I had decent internet / tv access. Currently have 4 skins jerseys, Cooley, Landry, Portis and Campbell (picked up at Wembley last year).
Outside NFL, I'm a Newcastle United and Northampton Saints fan, have held season tickets at both at some point.
I work in computing currently specialised in testing application performance, I'm currently training for the Great North Run (this will be my 4th) and also getting in shape to join the Edinburgh Wolves this winter, which are the local BAFL team.

I'm Gareth, 21 (22 on Thursday) years old. I'm from Hartlepool in the North East of England. I work for Hartlepool Borough Council as an Accountancy Trainee.

It was my dad who got me into supporting the Skins, if he hadnt i would have been a Raiders fan as the first games i watched were in the run up to SB 37 and i preferred the high powered offense to the great defense. The likes of Gannon and Rice helped as well. As i say not long after watching SB37 my father showed me the Redskins and the videos he had of their SB wins, became a Skins fan pretty much straight away.

I went to my first Skins game at FedEx in October last year in our win against the Browns and it was an experience i hope to experience again as soon as i can.

In terms of other sports i support:

Football: Hartlepool United - Local team, in my 3rd year with a season ticket.

Rugby Union: West Hartlepool - Another local team, been a fan since the days when they played in the premiership competing with the likes of Leicester.

NHL: Pittsburgh Penguins - Get a bit of stick from my redskins fans in the states for this as they say i should support the Capitals however i have been a NHL for longer than i have been an NFL fan.

College Football: Miami Hurricanes & Maryland Terrapins - Got into the Canes because the likes of Portis and Moss came from there. While i was in DC last year i went to the Terrapins win over Wake Forest.

Like steblin am currently working on getting into shape so i can play in the BAFL for my local team - Gateshead Senators

Began watching the NFL in 1982 on the very first show, cant remember why I chose the Skins but probably because they were on a fair amount and went on to win the Championship (OK I was 12....). I have been more than hooked since.

Began playing in 1985 as an underage player on a junior team (6'1 at the time) and have been fortunate enough to have a very long an interesting career as a football player marred only by a serious knee injury in the late 90's, including playing for Great Britain. I also coach football, coaching offensive line and I enjoy working hard to improve as a player and a Coach. I have also recently been offered the defensive co-ordinators job at a BUAFL team and I very much look forward to working with the staff and players this year to turn their fortunes around.I am busy working on systems & preparations for the coming season.

I take football very, very seriously and constantly look to improve my technical knowledge built up over a 20 odd year period - you are always learning regardless of how much you know.I have more interest in the technical side of the game than reading pundits opinions etc (some of them make me cringe LOL) but just love football in general.

I have seen games at several NFL stadia including Fed Ex which unfortunately I rate lowest of all the stadiums I have been to (Atlanta being #1 as a facility and Heinz field for game day experience).Would like to have seen a game at RFK but unfortunately I did not get there in time.I dont want to put anyone off visiting Fed Ex - the game experience is great.Have also been to Columbus Ohio to see the Buckeyes en route to the Hall of Fame in Canton - my college team is Notre Dame all the way however.

Favourite all time Redskins are Charles Mann,Art Monk and Joe Theismann. Current Redskins probably Randy Thomas and Chris Samuels.

Own many premier and authentic Washington jerseys but I bet I have one of the only Randy Thomas authentics in the world LOL. I also have a large collection of football helmets including signed Redskins mini helmets that I am particularly proud of.

I'll skip the Blind Date bit but I'm Gerry and been around here for many a day despite my low post count (had to re-register as my old account went missing).

Used to play for the Edinburgh Eagles (later the Edinburgh Phoenix) in the late 80's early 90's in Scottish and British Leagues (British football worked its way through a LOT of leagues back then!). Played against the likes of Glasgow Lions, Manchester Spartans, Fylde Falcons, Clydesdale Colts, Dundee Whalers, East Kilbride Pirates etc etc etc We even won a Scottish Championship! :) played Defensive Back and very occassional running back.

I remember a couple of years back someone doing a thread about how old everyone was here and I was at the top of list of those that answered! Currently weighing in at 49, am I still one of the oldest gits around here?! surely not.

It's going to take more than a one-off novelty to sway him!

Despite our official colours being burgundy and gold, the gold is little more than a trim. The Packers unis have even more yellow than the Steelers but he's not interested in those. I suspect it's because the black of Pittsburgh offers more of a contrast.

Now, if they were to bring back the gold pants..

Hail!

Long time Skins fan from London. I go all the way back to the first Super Bowl run in 82 when the Diesel and Hogs were unstoppable, Joey T was a Piglet and Mark Moseley's kicking style was just plain weird.

Dabbled with playing in the UK's heyday of the mid to late 80's but injury cut short my inevitable meteoric rise to NFL stardom where I would, in all probability, have singlehandedly prevented the (pteh...) Cowgirls dynasty of the mid 90s.

Never made it out to RFK but have been in DC to see the Skins play on numourous occasions and witnessed CP's first ever carry as a Redskin, a 75yd dash to the house against Tampa.

My Dad followed the Redskins in the 80s and chose them because they won the first game he ever saw. I decided to adopt the same method of choosing my team and started following the New England Patriots (urgh) - that is until I found myself far more interested in how the 5-11 Redskins were doing.

Haven’t been to Fedex yet but hoping to take my Dad over to DC one season soon.

Began following American Football on Channel 4 in the mid 80's, and supported the 'Skins.

Not sure why exactly.... one of my earliest memories is watching a programme called Red42. It had the Redskins logo saying "Red42".

Hello all,

I watched a little NFL in the mid-eighties without any real understanding or allegiance. My interest was energised in 1990 by my step-dad (at the time) who had supported the Skins since (I think) watching Superbowl XVII on TV. He enthused about Theismann and Riggins, Doug Williams and the feat of Timmy Smith in Superbowl XXII and of course the legendary Hogs.

1990 was a good season, 1991 (obviously) was much better and so my love of the burdundy and gold was cemented right there. Good job too!

In my late teens/early twenties I played a bit for the Manchester Spartans Youth (one year), Lancashire Wolverines Colts (couple of years) and then the Wolverines Senior team (couple of years). I was always an Offensive Lineman (never centre) and played RDE as well for the Colts. I was always the last kid picked at school for football (soccer) and stuff because I was cr@p, so I like to think I know a bit more about the NFL compared to other sports.

I also support Man City, Lancashire CCC and watch F1

Haha - I think that's a good way of introducing yourself actually. Where you picture yourself playing in an American Football team's lineup.

I'm just short of 6' so too short to play QB, too slow to play reciever, safety or cornerback and too skinny for a lineman. I'd call myself an under-sized linebacker :)

Carrying on the Speed Date

I'm Craig, 28 years old and now living in Bournemouth.

Used to be a defensive tackle for the Plymouth Admirals, which was an absolute joy. Started playing to get back fit after suffering a serious rugby injury and enjoyed 3 good seasons before another injury stopped me playing for a while, then married life, kids and bills that would go unpaid if injured again have kept me from playing since.

Supported the 'Skins since late eighties, a cross my father made me bear after seeing some live skins games during some time in america.

Main reasons for enjoying the game is its really just an aggressive all action chess game, the strategy and thought is higly detailed and the athleticism and awareness of the top level guys playing it is beyond belief.

For example the awareness of a reciever to get both feet down on the last spare inch of turf before going OB is just phenominal, and a finer point of the game. Its those intricacies, and the importance of every yard that make the game interesting to me
