View Full Version : Early Titans mock draft

Eventhough it is far too early to put a realistic mock draft for next year together, I thought I would have a go by picking the positions I think we will need to add to, and the players that I think would be available next year. It's always fun to look back on these threads to see how much the prospect values have changed and if our team needs have changed. So here it is:

(I think we will be picking at around 14th-18th in the draft)

Round 1: Vontaze Burfict - MLB - Arizona State

Vontaze Burfict is the word 'beast' personified. He could be great in the new Titans defence. Of course this could all change if Ruud has a great year and we sign him on a long-term contract. But there is still a possibilty that even if he does play well, he goes to another team for more money. That's why Burfict is a realistic possibility. He is an absolute beast at 6’3, 245 pounds and plays an extremely physical style of football. He produced 90 total tackles this year (54 solo), 8.5 TFL, 2 FF’s and 3 pass break-ups. His one question mark is his mental ability, but if this proves to much of a barrier, then there are some other great options like Luke Kuechly or Manti Te'o.

Round 2: Ryan Broyles - WR - Oklahoma

Ryan Broyles is a great second option receiver that could play along side Britt. He has hands of glue and has great YAC ability. He will drop to round two because of his tangibles not being great. He does not have great size or speed, but his production and ability to be a go-to receiver more than makes up for it. Nate Washington is costing too much money and dropping far too many passes, if he doesn't drastically improve then he will need to be replaced.

Round 3: Donnie Fletcher - CB - Boston College

Cornerback depth and secondary depth is really important to the Titans. I expect Finnegan to sign a long-term deal and along with McCourty and Verner, we have a pretty strong CB depth chart. But I think even more depth at the position wouldn't go amiss. Fletcher is a 6'1 corner with big play ability, he has the tangibles to become a solid player in the league and he would be solid value in round 3.

Round 4: Ryan Miller - OG - Colorado

This dude is an absolute beast at 6'8 and 312lbs. There is no doubt that we will be looking for improvement in the interior line from Amano and Harris. If we do not get that, then Miller is a perfect option. He was ranked second behind All-American Nate Solder with 83 finish or knockdown blocks and six touchdown blocks and allowed just two sacks and had just two penalties last season.

I won't go further than this round because it would be too speculative, but there's my two cents for what I think we need in the 2012 draft at this point. Let's see how much it changes over the course of the season.
