Great news! Nice way to start a weekend

A high price worth paying in my view. Yes it's a gamble, but all draft picks are gambles.

Now lets take care of this cap space next week.

And we really need to resign #59

At that cost, the front office will be telling Jabar Gaffney he's not #10 any more if RG3 wants it. Even if they have to bring out the cattle prods.

Great news, the deal is a bit expensive but "you can't win the lottery unless you buy a ticket".

Giving up two first round picks for RGIII, or stick with Rex Grossman?

How does anyone think this is a bad idea? I

f he is the man they want and believe he can make them winners again, who can put a price on that?

I'm well chuffed with this. Well excited to see how we do for the next few years now. Won't be expecting instant success, but the fact we at least have a QB we can build around is promising :)

Feel a little bit uneasy at what we gave up to jump four spots,
But if RG3 turns into a top tier QB in the pros it will look like loose change
To have him under center for 12-15 years.

It's a pity the plan to fill the team with weapons in FA might have taken a bit of a hit

I was just thinking, has anyone noticed that Grossman also has the initials RG?

And that according to this link:

Rex's full name is Rex Daniel Grossman III.

So Robert Griffin could almost be RG3, the 2nd.

Sorry, just a thought :D

Yeah :p

Funny coincidence. I'm sure Rex doesn't mind - he already has the best nicknames of any player in the league

From RG3-and-out to RG3-first-rounders :D

I kid. Really looking forward to seeing the new RG in action against the Eagles next season.

Well, I for one will be hoping that he helps redress the balance a bit - the matchups last season were pretty one-sided (odd that the Skins could win their two most competent games against the Giants, lose two tight games to the Cowboys but look so bad against the Eagles)

Yeah, hopefully Griffin will bring an edge back to the Eagles - Skins divisional games.

Wouldn't be surprised to see one of our games get picked as a primetime game what with all the media's Vick - Griffin comparisons.

I see RGIII doing well in Washington, smart kid 4.0 GPA. Would take him ahead of Vick if I were starting a franchise.... Vick has proven durability issues, not to mention the added baggage.

I think the biggest parallel between Griffin and Vick is not their athleticism it's their deep-ball accuracy. Rex had so many opportunities going deep that were underthrown or overthrown. Hopefully Griffin can hit these guys in stride.

Yeah, I wasn't suggesting that RGIII is all that like Vick, but there has been a lot of lazy comparisons in the media. Probably chiefly due to their skin colour and athleticism, but yes, they both have the ability to launch the deep-ball. RGIII is a far smarter guy than Mike and a good bit taller and bigger than him, Vick is only 6ft. Vick does seem to have a bit more speed though from what I've seen of Griffin.

I would still take Vick at this stage (biased though I am!)

Granted Vick has injury concerns, but we haven't seen Griffin take a single NFL snap yet so it's hard to say how he will transition and whether he will develop in the right direction. Vick on the other hand has proved that he is capable of being a top level NFL QB. Call me risk averse but I'd rather have the tried and tested item than the unknown factor.

As for the baggage, since Vick has joined Philly he's been on the straight and narrow and has been a real team leader in the locker room and on the field, so I don't see his history as a strike against him as a football player any more.
