With Sean Payton suspended for the season, along with other important members of the franchise, the Saints have got off to one of their worst starts in recent memory. The season ahead looks as though it will be a long one for Saints players and fans alike, however will this actually prove to be a good thing in the future?
One of the sanctions was that the Saints lost their second round picks this draft and for next Aprils.
However, if their early season struggles, and strong schedule, are anything to go by, the Saints will surely end up with one of the worst records in the League. If, this is the case, the franchise will end up with a high draft pick in the 2013 draft which can either be used to strengthen the team or traded for more picks next year.
This will mean that Sean Payton will return to the team with a high draft pick that they heaven't had for several seasons (2008 & 2006) and fresh from a year away, during which he is probably scheming for the 2013 season.
Whilst it has obviously hurt the Saints this season, do people think that this could be good for the future of the Saints organisation which could use the pick to improve an average defense?

I guess it comes down to how you see the pick helping out our team overall. It's no guarantee that a player drafted 15th will perform any better than someone drafted #28th. There's obviously a higher chance that player would be better overall, but it's not a given.
