Re:greatest ever...

Well to name a few all time Raiders greats, feel free to correct me if i am wrong ;D

* Fred Biletnikoff
* Marcus Allen
* George Blanda
* Willie Brown
* Dave Casper
* Jim Otto
* Art Shell
* Ted Hendricks
* Gene Upshaw
* Mike Haynes
* Howie Long
* Jerry Rice
* Tim Brown

Now everyone of them is in the hall of fame apart from Rice and Brown but they will be in there soon enough ;D

Off the top of my noggin: You can check the positions if you don't know them!
Ken Stabler, Jim Plunkett, George Blanda, Marcus Allen, Bo Jackson, Clarence Davis, Mark van Eeghan (sp), Cliff Branch, Fred Biletnikoff, Dave Casper, Todd Christensen, Tim Brown, Jerry Rice, James Lofton, Dave Dalby, Gene Upshaw, Art Shell, Jim Otto
Howie Long, Jack Tatum, Rod Martin, John Matutsack (sp!), Mike Haynes, Lester Hayes, Ray Guy, Matt (I think) Bahr

And Todd Marinovich. ;D

Just a few to start?

Re:greatest ever...

There was a 'best starting squad' for each team in a thread here.

My suggestion was:

Quote:

QB - Stabler
RB - Bo Jackson, Marcus Allen
TE - Casper
WR - Biletnikoff, Rice
OL - Shell, Upshaw, Otto, Buehler, Bob Brown

DL - Long, Matuszak, Sistrunk
LB - Hendricks, Biekert, Villapiano, Millen
DB - Hayes, Tatum, Haynes, Willie Brown

P - Guy
K - Blanda
There's a lot to choose from though: I think Oakland had the best second string team for certain!

Lamonica, Plunkett
Van Eeghan
Christiansen
Branch and Brown
Dalby, Wiznewski, Kennedy

just on offence...

Re:greatest ever...

The Raiders of the 70's and half the 80's had immense depth and talent I think. The fact that so many names came straight to mind backs that up.
You won't go far wrong with those names!

i do know about the "bad-ass" (dirty) reputation but that just adds to the fear factor.

So says the big bad Cardinal fan. ::)

Nobody can argue with the Raiders' success since 1963, least of all the Cards. Hell, you can't even argue with our attendance figures! :D
