Default 'In Ozzie We Trust'

In Ozzie We Trust. The cry of Ravens Nation every year during free agency and the draft. My question is................

Does Ozzie still deserve our trust?

Let's look back at the rounds 1-4 picks we have made in the last four NFL drafts.

2012
Courtney Upshaw - Decent.
Kelechi Osemele - Hit.
Bernard Pierce - Miss.
Gino Gradkowski - Miss.
Christian Thompson - Miss.

2013
Matt Elam - Miss.
Arthur Brown - Miss.
Brandon Williams - Hit.
John Simon - Miss.
Kyle Juszczyk - Miss.

2014
C.J. Mosley - Hit.
Timmy Jernigan - Hit and miss. Big year for him.
Terrence Brooks - Miss.
Crockett Gillmore - Decent.
Brent Urban - Miss.
Lorenzo Taliaferro - Miss.

2015
Breshad Perriman - Don't know yet.
Maxx Williams - Don't know yet.
Carl Davis - Depth player.
Za'Darius Smith - Could be a hit.
Buck Allen - Will be a miss in my view.
Tray Walker - RIP.

We have 22 draft picks there and, by my estimation, only 3 of those players could be classified as 'hits'(one of them is no longer with us - Osemele). We have another 4 who could yet develop into hits. Outside of that it is a littany of misses and backup level talent. Many of these players aren't even on the Ravens roster anymore.

It's not an inspiring record is it?

I am going to say the unsayable - I am gradually beginning to lose faith in Ozzie Newsome. I haven't totally lost faith in him, and I am not advocating he should be removed from his position(yet), but the process of losing faith in him has definitely begun.

After our Superbowl win I understood there was going to be some major roster upheaval and that we were facing a period of rebuilding. But we are now almost four years down the line from that Superbowl win and in my view we are nothing more than an 7-9, 8-8, 9-7 team. We've tried to rebuild on the fly and it hasn't worked. I don't see signs of us improving from year to year and the amount of draft picks we are missing on is without doubt slowing down any progress we are making.

Does anybody else feel the same? Or am I being too negative.
