Hi Packer fans. What's up with Datone Jones? Noticed he hasn't Ben playing much.

He damaged his ankle early on in the year. Though I don't know how badly. I can't recall seeing him on injury updates. He's behind Raji, Jolly, Pickett and C.J. Wilson on the DL. Played at Cinci, not on the injury report for the kittens.

I guess he's "adjusting".

Apologies for interrupting but I am looking for UK based NFL fans to take part in a new book to be, hopefully, published in December.

I need fans to answer (upto) 8 questions and their answers may be in the book.

The website and questions are here: http://mynflteam.wordpress.com/questions/

Thanks for reading and hope you can take part!

Read that Nick Collins (safety) has mentioned he'd like to be back in nfl.
If he could be passed medically fit (don't know how likely), do the packers hold his rights?
As i would be ecstatic if he joined eagles, presuming horrific injury sorted.

Just got off the phone with former #Packers S @nickdapick36. Very good conversation. "I’m ready, I’m 100 percent healed."

Sounds like he feels ready to go! Considering how risk averse we are we injuries, be shocked if he ended up back with the Packers. But really hope it works out for him somewhere. Was a great player, our defense hasnt been anywhere near as good without him!

As much as I'd like to have him back, I really don't think he'll get a shot anywhere. The insurance risk is too much, and given the nature of the injury I can't imagine the diagnosis is different to what it was two years ago. He's been free to sign at any point and yet, even with multiple teams needing a safety, it's not happened. I'd be hugely surprised if a comeback was on the cards.

Gutting, as he was heading towards a HoF-level career, cut down in his prime and we've not been able to adequately replace him since.

As much as Rodgers return may have been fast-tracked, and Matthews was rushed back with his ridiculous club, the Packers are considered by the media and by their players as conservative. Which is fantastic. I'd not want the future quality of life of a player compromised because medical advice was set aside in favour of that player's wishes.

I'd love Collins to come back. I reckon the Packers would love him to come back. If he was healthy. Not sure what, if anything, can improve after fusing vertebrae. Another safety, Richardson, came back but his fused vertebrae are lower in his back and so further from the brain which appears to be crucial.

What does everyone think about the extension talks for Coach McCarthy?

I would hold off for now as I think he is a good coach, but not a great coach.
He has a good record but his play calling isn't the best.

Check back to the game threads from last year and I am sure you will see many of us wondering why he is so predictable.

I hope we re-up him.

From what the beat writers say McCarthy is not interested in front office stuff. No ambition in that direction. That being so, the extent to which roster weaknesses can be attributable to him seems negligible.

He seems to handle egos well and run a tight locker room.

How much injury problems are his fault I don't know, but he has managed us through significant problems and won a Lombardi in the process.

I wouldn't swap our O for any in the league, especially now we can run it.

The D is my big problem. Not enough of a problem to rip the whole thing up.

P.S. I quite enjoy his quietly pugnacious public manner too.

All hail Mike!
