I may be living in a dream world, but I'm kind of excitedly hoping AJ Derby looks good in camp and can carve out a role for himself as our move TE next season.

There's no chance we pay what ivory will want (4-5m a year)

Like Chris I'm kinda hoping AJ Darby is good, looked it in college. Think Dwayne Allen will get a better offer elsewhere - think we may just stick with Chandler

But do we need to stop shopping in the bargin bin with our running game,Lewis was great last year but we need a big back who can run and Ivory would not only give us a guy entering his prime years but also weaken a divisional rival. If he wants DeMarco Murray type money then ok move on but if its $4/5m then surely its a chance to add a new real dimension to our offence, the broncos gave us 5 man boxes to run against and we still could not get more then a couple of yards.

Ivory is 27, will turn 28 next month, Exactly the age that RB numbers traditionally decline. A few guys may peak earlier or later, but 24-27 are an RB's 'prime' years.

He may be a bit old by "age" but he has only really been used a lot by the jets for the last 3 years, the saints hardly wore him out in his 1st 3 years in the league.Think he has less than 900 carries but understand that maybe his age may put some teams off.Just think the Pats need to get a big back that can make teams have to keep 7 men in the box but maybe if Blount is cheap then maybe Belichick will just give him a new cheap as possible deal.

Think Ivory's inability to stay healthy is as much of a concern as his age. Didn't miss many games this season, but was clearly limited in several games and the coaching staff seemed to lose faith in him late in the season. A 100% fit Ivory is up there with the league's best though...

Was gonna bring up this point - ivory has a very poor injury record too. Not worth it imo - would rather chase forte if we're gonna give a RB that kinda money

so the salary cap is set at just over $155m and the pats currently have over $13m in cap space and Jeff Howe reported that the team will not start negoiating any real expensive extensions till after the draft in May.

its not long till the official "tampering" period starts so we will find out what kind of market there is for Forte who seems to be the missing links in many Pats fans eye's.
