Quick question - with regards to NEXT years draft, would everyone here be happy if we had to trade UP to get he15man (sorry, Tim Tebow)??????? this is of course if beck doesnt work out the way we want him too, I know he has his fans here.

Tebow is sure to be a top 5 pick and if Tuna, Spanner and friends have the desired effect then surely we would have to trade up due to a respectable record, like the Falcons did with Vick or the Saints with Ricky Williams.

I would only be too happy if it meant getting the local hero.

He would invigorate the franchise no doubt, but with his background and being a local boy the pressure would be huge, and i mean huge. Like his arm, size and speed but his technique needs work according to the scouting reports I have read.

The Pro game is a whole different ball game and strengths shown in college football can be soon negated in the NFL, but I'd love the Dolphins take the chance to draft someone well.....exciting.

....But lets not give up on John Beck just yet.

As much as I and I'm sure a load of other Phin fans would like to hope the Falcons would tade our number 1 pick and get some extra picks - I really can't see this happening.
Yeah agreed. I would love to see the Dolphins trade the top pick, but I can't see it happening.

It's notoriously difficult to trade the top pick, I think it's only happened once in the last 10 years.
Maybe..but the Falcons are a desperate franchise with no figurehead at all. Don't think it would happen given that Parcells has made little noise of disapproval of Beck to tempt anyone into thinking we might take Ryan.

Don't get too down on the No1 Pick. Yes its costly but for a reason, you get the pick of who you want and with that you negotiate from a position of strength.

Yeah fair one Ramsio!

It's still very nice to have that top overall pick, even if they can't trade it. Plus of course we have the top pick inthe subsequent rounds, which is a little higher this year, with NE losing their 1st rounder.

Shame that this year their is no obvious sure-fire NFL star coming out of college, which would mean the Dolphins would be in an even stronger position. (although many of those guys don't always turn out to be the player teams expect... their potential obviously gives the team a stronger position on draft day).

Not long now until the free agent frenzy starts!

Should be fun for us Fins fans with all that cap space.

Well I wouldn't want us to get Losman as that would require giving up a pick in the draft.

Todd Collins, Josh McCown or Quinn Gray would be my choices through FA to backup John Beck this season with Collins probably being my favourite as he proved last year that he can come in and do a job if needed.

I'm with you on Jake long. He is too good to pass up, plus he will realistically be an impact player straight away, getting starts in his first season. Matt ryan is a good prospect, but taking QBs at number one is a big risk. you cant give up on Beck after half a season when he had little or no protection. However we do need an experienced QB as we cant just rely on Beck.If he does choke, i think his confidence will be shot.Still looking forward to next season, it could be awseome, at the very least it will be interesting and maybe we may get two wins!
I actualy maent chris long, although jake long had a good combine and does look good too. I am thinking darren mcfadden would be a good number 1 pick if we dont trade. the guy is good and someone would want ricky in a trade.

A lot of people in Miami think that we'll be interested in taking Joe Flacco should he still be around in the 2nd round. This will leave us with 2 good young QBs and would result in us probably not taking Tebow next year!

Could be worth a shot if he's around - but I suspect there will be better players available with first pick in second round.

The Dolphins currently have two picks in the second round too don't they? (San Diego's for Chambers?)

If both Flacco and Beck turn out to be flops then Tebow remains a distinct possibility, particularly if their flops lead to the first overall pick again.
