I was around 3,000ish, but I didn't start up until about week 4. Hoping for top 1,000 if not top 100 this year. Had a couple of trips into the top 100 last year.

Any tips? Erm, listen to fantasy football podcasts if you have the time, ESPN Fantasy Focus, or just general ones like ESPN's Football Today. Make sure you pick the right players with the right matchups, ie, don't pick Randy Moss when the Jets are in town

Fair play, played welker alot last year but also had a couple of shocking picks where my running back or TE got less than 5pts. I find TE a hard choice as Gates wasn't a fantasy starter at the start of last season but he was expensive. If I can get my TE position right then I hope to get in the top 100 like my mate who finished some where in the TOP 100.

Last year you start Davis, Clark or Celek as they scored TDs. And you started CJ2K as well. Basically, I always have a stable of guys I pick from, and then pick the best matchups. So at TE I'd pick one of those three depending on the match-up, and at RB I'd pick CJ2K, AP, Rice, Benson etc, and then pick based on the matchup. There would always be one playing the Bills/Chiefs/Browns etc who you guarantee points for.

I finished with 1471 total points at my first attempt (avg about 86 points a week), finished just inside the top 5000 (I seem to recall there were well over 36,000(?) entries so I wasn't too unhappy).

It's frustrating (in a fun way) once you get into it and you feel sure you are going to get a 100+ points week, only to find out your player never saw the ball, got injured, missed the plane or something silly haha!

I always read Michael Fabiano's Start 'em and Sit 'em columns on NFL.com and Rafa's columns on here each week. Of course they are sometimes spot on, and sometimes way off. A lot of it is down to luck and breakout players surprising everyone, especially in the first two weeks. If you don't get it right early on it sometimes feels like you are points- chasing with certain picks as you've missed the boat.

I guess with this competition the idea is to get it right one week only and then you are in the draw. Kudos and respect to Horrorshow last year though who finished todd (I mean top) of the heap
