I think they will roll with what they have - Langi by all accounts has done well in camp and should make the roster he can play there and like Lee says expect Hightower to be used as a rusher more with David Harris on board now

I suspect we may pickup somebody a month or so into the season

I'd be very surprised if they open the season without acquiring a DE from some other team. Ealy made a step up in terms of play time, but with Rivers and Wise dealing with things, somebody had to play some snaps. I don't want McClellin there, because he's too small, and I don't want to move Hightower away from where he's best. Langi is an intruiging player all around but I think we have to bear in mind that this is the preseason, where Bill evaluates what guys can and can't do. Getting snaps doesn't mean he likes what you're doing, just that he wants to see more.

Belichick is not going to panic,if there a trades to be made Bill seems to be the master of waiting till the season gets going and the selling teams are more happy to move players for lower draft picks.

reports the Seahawks where calling teams about Left tackles after last weeks injury and struggled to find much at the right price and surely if the Pats started calling teams asking for DE they would not be in a hurry to help out the Champs or would expect a premium.maybe we see someone decent released on the 2nd September when the 53's get set but even then looks like we are starting with whats in camp now.

remember back to 2011 when we brought in Andre Carter and Mark Anderson in early August for very cheap money as we had no real pass rushers on the roster and they both went in to put up 10 sack seasons as we went to the superbowl.have faith.

I have faith. Worst case scenario this team wins 13 games IMO, but that doesn't make them perfect at defensive end.

I don't think Bill will panic, but I do think there will be a new DE on the roster by kickoff with the Chiefs, perhaps two.

think this is the 1st year that there is only 1 set of roster cut downs unlike previous years where they went from 90 to 75 before the last cut down so maybe teams will be looking to keep some guys as trade bait so we could see wheeler dealer Bill but with the Pats playing Thursday its not much time from the Saturday cut-downs.

think the depth at linebacker(teams are in nickel/dime soo much) maybe allows for Belichick to experiment early on before maybe looking at teams trying to move guys on that really helped us in 2014 when we got guys from the teams looking to dump salary.

Yeah, that could be the route he takes to acquire a guy. I'm just saying he definitley will. We don't disagree really.

Ealy getting released,a bit of a gamble with trading back 8 spots but the possible upside was worth it.Matt Chatham has some interesting points on how the lack of Defensive ends isn't that big an issue.

I'd have a lot more interest in Matt Chatham's positive comments if he ever said anything negative!

I'm sure they'll find some edge guys and have some success with them.

Losing Jules is another blow but I think the WR corps is so strong that we'll adjust.

We may have lots of depth at positions but the season hasn't even started properly yet and it looks as though we'll need all the depth we can get!

First Edelman out for the season and now Cyrus Jones is reportedly done too!

I'm not too worried about losing Cyrus Jones. I feel bad for the guy and he was trending up this preseason, but the only way is up when you've been singularly awful for a year and a bit.
