Default Draft

I know its a bit early to be thinking about the draft - we're not even sure where we'll land (lets hope its 32)
but i figured, its never too early to discuss who we'd like to see in green and white next year.
IMO our main concerns are DE/WR. We also need depth on the O-line and an addition to the secondary would be nice.
I think we could also draft a reasonable FB in the later rounds - T-Rich isn't getting any younger.

Here are my favourite prospects, in no order:
Everson Griffen DE, 6-3, 265. He's a specialist pass rusher, incredibly athletic for his size. Could be what Ryan needs to turn this D from #1 to Legendary, (only 32 sacks this year). Coming out of USC a year early - like Sanchez. Could we see another Gholston like bust?

Corey Wootton DE 6-7 280. Big guy, good at getting to the QB. Not sure on this one, sould easily see him sliding into the second round.

Jerry Hughes DE 6-3 257. Very explosive off the line and can get past his man quickly, has a problem shedding blocks though.

Golden Tate WR 5-11 195. Electrifying speed, solid hands. Would provide a great deep threat for Sanchez to aim for especially with the uncertainty surrounding Edwards' contract.

Arrelious Benn WR 6-2 220. Reminds me of Brandon Marshall, fast, physical, velcro hands and great at running with the ball.

*Obviously the likes of Dez Bryant and Brandon LaFell would be excellent picks for us, but i can't see them falling to where we'll be.

I'd like to hear your feedback, if you agree/disagree/think i'm an idiot, whatever you think.

i'm kinda new around here, but from what i've seen, the Jets are one of the worst represented teams here, c'mon guys get involved!

It is hard to predict what we'll do in the draft,a lot probably depends on what happens in free agency. If we resign Braylon Edwards and Lito Sheppard then we don't have any immediate holes that need fixing. If we let one or both go then we need a starting WR and or CB.

However we need to start looking at adding future starters on both lines,we got solid play out of the DE's but they are both old and will need replacing soon(and the run defense could be better).Alan Faneca is getting up there in age and he's not very good at pass blocking these days.If we coould get a 3-4 DE or an OG to groom for a year or two then I'd be happy.

Of course we may just be picking the best player available. There is a change in rule this year which means that our draft picks won't be ranked on our 9-7 record but rather where we go in the playoffs. At best(worst) our pick is going to be the 24th pick,we may just need to take whoever falls into our lap.

I'd love us to go get Brandon Marshal, who add so much to our offense. I know he has baggage but I think Ryan could get the best out of the guy

I'm not that up on College Football tbh but do enjoy watching the draft, last year was great when we moved up for Sanchez.

We need another 1 or 2 picks this draft and I could see us trading out of the first and maybe the 2nd also. Theres great depth this year, all over and we have a number of depth issues that need to be filled.
Also don't forget how good Ryan is at picking up UFAs

As far as I can see, you have just one on your roster?

Only one from the last draft but we carried a few undrafted free agents on the team.

They'd already been in the league a year though. Ryan's only been your coach for a year.

It's not so much a matter of spotting diamonds in the rough but getting the best out of players.Ryan may not have identified Danny Woodhead,Ropati Pitoitua, Kenwin *******s,Marquice Cole,James Ihedigbo and Marques Murrell as guys who'd develop into players at the end of the draft. But he's got good production out of them.I don't know about his success with undrafted guys in Baltimore but he did find Kelly Gregg.
