Haven't read Broaddus' review yet, but I think the Cowboys just wanted a veteran presence at swing tackle. No one you pick up from waivers is going to be without their faults, but at least he has some starting experience so that has to be a plus.

Nice to see us tie down Tyrone Crawford for the next 5 years. $45m ($27m guaranteed). I'm guessing the owner/coaches are expecting him to have a big year with the investment in the D line, best to get the deal done now before the price goes up!.....................

So Jordan Mills didn't last very long. Darrion Weems waived too. Next man up at swing tackle? Charles Brown, formerly of the Giants, Saints, and recently the Jets.

We also traded for Brice Butler, WR, Oakland.

Not sure. As I understand it if you release a player from your own 53 and he clears waivers he can be resigned to your Practice Squad. If another team releases a player then he can be signed to your 53, and if he clears waivers can be signed to your 53 or your Practice Squad.

I might have got the wrong end of the stick on what you were saying though.

Yeah i,m a bit confused, i always thought, or i heard somewhere that if a player is cut by another team, he has to be signed to your 53....anyway, surprised Weems wasnt picked up.

I suppose other teams pose the question........'why was he released?' i.e. if he isn't good enough for them, why will he be good enough for us? Now the Cowboys are in pretty unique company in terms of their O line skill and depth, but Weems has been in the league for 3 years now, and although he was raw and inexperienced to begin with he hasn't seemingly progressed fast enough.
