Fresh off that debacle..........thoughts:

This coaching staff
. Hardly inspiring. Outside of good ol' Marinelli of course, making miracles happen year in, year out. Seriously though, Linehan has surely over thought things one time too many, and you just know Jason Garrett will remain frustratingly consistent in his response to this too. Linehan has made this offence work well at times, you have to accept that, but in key moments it fails more often than not. Whether it's Garrett or Linehan, the offence has stagnated, especially in the Redzone, and never seems to have a Plan B. If it does have a Plan B it takes an age to emerge, even if the rest of the world has been shouting about it for a while.

Dak. He's young, so it's tough to judge, but next year is a big year for him. We'll leave it at that.

Dez. Whatever the issue is, it needs fixing. Whether he's trying too hard, frustrated, unfocused, I don't know but this is 3 years in a row now that he's been inconsistent at best. Maybe Romo made a big difference to Dez, something Dak can't do at this stage. When your no.1 WR is eating up a big portion of your cap he has to live up to it though........

Tyron. This better not be the start of continuing back, groin and knee issues. He's a cornerstone to the franchise.

Dan Bailey. A major worry when kickers start to wobble, things can go down hill real quick. Tough to know what's mental and what's physical, plus he's still making most of his kicks, it's just a worry they could do without.

The Eagles game.
Jaylon Smith, Taco Charlton, Kavon Fraizer, Rod Smith, Lewis Neal, Xavier Woods, Noah Brown, Anthony Brown, Ryan Switzer, Blake Jarwin, Cooper Rush. They should all see snaps at one point or another. Anyone with a knock or strain should be shut down.

Its an ideal game to start certain players as it makes no diff to the season now, Eagles will no doubt rest players, whatever the problem with Bryant it has to be sorted during off season, like you say, Romo made him look like 10 times better than he probably is. Dak seems reluctant to throw bombs to him, wether its because hes covered or Dak just doesnt have the confidence to do it? As usual with most teams going out at this stage, positions need to be looked at for next yr. Think Garretts job is safe for the mo, but you never know with Jerrys "win now" attitude. TE needs to be looked at with Witten creaking and seemingly no one to step up in catching plays-hard to replace yes, Jaylon Smith, unsurprisingly as been in and out, but hopefully should return fitter and stronger and take the heat off Lee-that would be good. Dont think the O Line is too bad, especially if Smith has a good rest and can come back like his old self, but finding a good swing tackle in the draft would be ideal. Really think we need to look at a reciever regardless of Bryants state of mind, we need that threat to play alongside Bryant and hopefully take away some of the match ups and give Dak more options, because teams know, double team Dez and thats basically it.

Like to see Switzer line up as reciever, if only a few snaps in the slot-imagine that speed downfield

So they've finally completed their coaching overhaul/changes.

New OL coach, new WR coach, new QB coach (Kellen Moore), new TE coach, new LB coach, new DB coach, a new Defensive Assistant, new ST co-ordinator, new Assistant ST's......oh, and a new Strength & Conditioning hire too.

Really hope changing the gear stick, steering wheel, indicators, seats, seat belts, and windscreen wipers makes this car go faster.............because it's still the same engine and tyres on this thing (Linehan/Marinelli), and it's still the same driver (Garrett) driving the car!

With all the talk about Byron Jones moving back to CB, and now talk of Jaylon Smith moving to SAM, I'm losing a little faith in this teams ability to build a team.

We have to accept that Plan A doesn't always work out as planned, but it feels like Plan A rarely works at all. Maybe La'el Collins was always waiting in the wings to move from LG to RT once Doug Free called it a day, but Chidobe Awuzie has seen time at S and CB, Sean Lee has been the MIKE and the WILL, Maliek Collins has been the 1T and the 3T, Tyrone Crawford has been the 3T, LDE and RDE.....there is being versatile and then there is too much tinkering!

Are there too many 'jacks' on this team and not enough 'masters'? Is that the coaching staffs fault for being indecisive or the front office for adding the wrong types of player? Or is OT just making mountains out of mole hills?

So Hitchens is off (as expected) to the Chiefs.

Andrew Norwell has just made Zack Martin even more money.

The Cowboys dabbled with the idea of signing Sammy Watkins but didn't like the price.

We're still waiting on the cost of David Irving's RFA tender.

......and Orlando Scandrick asked for his release.

I'm sure there is some positive news out there somewhere.........Surely?......no?........

The rumour mill is running at peak capacity at this time of year but it's hard not to feel like there is something to the Earl Thomas rumours. The Cowboys are apparently interested, but the Seahawks are apparently (again) asking for 1st and 3rd round picks. That's a high price to pay for a soon to be 29 FS, even if he is an All Pro and he was born in Texas.

I wonder though, as Free Agency plays out a little more and the draft draws a little closer, will that asking price fall slightly? How about a 2nd round pick, aroundabout no.50? Maybe throw in a late 4th too? If the Seahawks sign someone like Suh in the coming days/weeks or another costly Free Agent, will they want to give Earl Thomas the new contract he's after too? Or are they happy to lose him to Free Agency next year and get a 3rd round compensatory pick at best?

Maybe playing the waiting game could pay dividends here. If they keep hold of their 1st round pick and still manage to land Earl Thomas that surely has to be seen as a win.

Irving was a DE now playing DT, there have been a few changes, maybe they need to try players in diff positions to see if it works out? but surely they should have a good idea in practice/training? Worried about Smith being SAM

The worrying thing for me with the talk of Smith and the SAM is........when was the last time you heard/saw the importance of the SAM in this scheme? I mean it's been occupied by Kyle Wilbur and Damien Wilson for what seems like forever.

This scheme is about the WILL and the MIKE. So we spent a high 2nd round pick on a LB who it turns out plays your least important LB spot and sees the field less than 50% of the time?! That to me is a sign of concern. Either Smith isn't able to handle the playbook yet or he's physically still got some way to go.
