indeed, and probably could have got him with one of NE's other 40 picks they have left in this draft
But, as said earlier, if there is a guy you like, may as well just go get him before someone else does.

He has a high ceiling (which is ok when you are that tall)

Our draft proves one thing, which is true of the real draft, if you like someone you have to go get them regardless of whether the consensus says they are worth the pick.
He ain't getting to round 6 in the real thing. Wouldn't surprise me if he went on Day 2. One or two measurables (like his 3 cone) weren't brilliant, but in the main he tested well.

Just now been able to pick up phone as at work all day and find I am now on the clock. For the remainder of my lunch break I'm entertaining trade offers to move down in 2nd round

wow, instant reaction from Olly to the Gronk news
Brilliant thanks Mick

I have Warring ranked as my 3rd TE behind the Iowa guys on the Olly big board - and with Tillery gone (who I was trying to get) I had no other DL ranked as highly to take at 47. The Gronk news probably helped push me too.

But as for Warring himself, I place a lot on potential and floor and this dude has one of the highest I’ve seen from a TE in a while. Limited football experience, played in a run heavy college scheme but still showed great flashes of what he could be, he has very soft hands and for someone so inexperienced decent route running. Obviously he’s an athletic freak too, which is handy. All talk at San Diego State is he a great kid too, and on film he competes his butt off too.

He’s my draft crush at TE this year, he’s going to take a year or two to reach anywhere near his full potential but he can come in and initially be a red zone threat with his physical tools, and for the Pats that is what we will need in this post Gronk era

When drafting for the Pats I am very much looking at potential and ceiling - because Belichick gets the high floor guys from veteran players, the likes of Chris Hogan, your Rex Burkheads, your Jason McCourty’s who will give you a baseline of play, so I always think the draft for us should be about getting guys who can be transcendent talents and Warring fits that bill perfectly

McCoy certainly seems to be a riser.

The Dolphins are having a nice draft so far imo.

McCoy is good value there. If you want a Center, there are some good options this year

Apparently the Jets were after Mitch Morse in free agency, but the wouldn't offer the 1.5m extra the Bills were offering
