All things being equal and it's Hamilton back on pole.

The Button not-retirement thing is interesting. A year to rest while Vandoorne and Alonso drive, but in the same breath McLaren say it doesn't mean Alonso is gone after 2017...

If Vandoorne has a bad year, they can have Button and Alonso again, sure. Even if Vandoorne is just OK in his first year, though, they should keep him on board, so they have to pick Jenson or Fernando.

Lots of ruthless, but fair, overtaking in the Moto3 race @ Silverstone. Binder won and, with 2nd place in the championship Navarro crashing out, Binder's title looks assured.

Oh, there's a GP in Italy and Hamilton made his trademark bog of the start. So that's a Merc 1-2 and a Ferrari 3-4 on the books. Yawn.

Back at Silverstone, Sam Lowes was on pole for his home Moto2 race, and he led the first half. He slipped back, made up ground, then he was crashed out by Zarco on lap 15/18. Zarco finished 6th but the stewards gave him a 30-second time penalty, which dropped him out of the points. Luthi was a solid winner.

F1 at it's exciting best. All over after the 1st corner for the win and then just a race to see who can finish 3rd.Just a shame that 1 team is just so much better at the moment.

2017 will be a mess with all the new changes and teams not getting to test on a track till early march. No regulations next year on in-season testing or limits on engine changes so hopefully we may get a Brawn type season where 1 team starts well but then the rest make it interesting.

I'd be very surprised to see him back in F1 in 2018.

Another boring race, once Hamilton got back to 2nd it was only a race for 3rd and the minor places, now to catch up with the Moto GP.

Meanwhile, back here in Englandland, Cal Crutchlow started the MotGP race from pole position and finished 2nd after lots of close racing, including some pretty lunatic stuff by Marc Marquez.

YaY! Win Jer bashtalverized @ Watkins Glenn. How cool is that?

And there's still the second half of the Bombers vs the Riders to watch.
This is a really good TV sport day.

Shame the F1 takeover doesn't involve Bernie going away...
