Default Bears Draft 2014

Hi Guys

In a few weeks the annual NFLUK mock draft will start and I am picking for the Bears this year.

I was just looking to get the views and opinions of fellow Bears fans of where our needs and priorities lay?

I am pretty sure we may well say the same thing *cough* defense *cough*, but where positionally would you say is most urgent, especially in the early rounds?

I havent decided exactly where I will be going with the first round pick, this will come down to what we do in the early part of FA I think.

Cheers

I think it'll be pretty hard to have a bad draft this year, basically because we have so many needs on the D!

Personally I'd be looking for 2 of DT/DE/Safety in the first 2 rounds. And fill the remaining one with a FA

Mid round, I'd like to see Garza's heir picked up, Maybe with a speedster for the slot (Although Jeffrey and Marshall have apparantly taken Wilson under their wing, so we might already have this covered)

Late rounds, A back to spell Forte and poss a swing tackle project, who can put pressure on Mills to keep improving.

A quality corner anywhere in there wouldn't hurt either!!

My thoughts have been that I would prefer a DL with our first pick.
Part of this is because I believe - not surprisingly - that our two biggest needs are DL and S.
I would rather have a rookie in the middle of the line, and a FA/vet Safety at the back end.

I don't know enough about college football to have a favourite specific player unfortunately.

Il get back to you after the FA Danny as im sure my thoughts now will change as we see Phil's plan evolve through FA

Espicially if reports coming out of Indianapolis are true on that we have signed plamer on as backup QB and Ratliff is meeting bears brass to ink too

+1, little point contemplating too much until FA is out of the way. We resign Melton and a 3 tech like donald is less likely and a DE or corner becomes more likely. Sign a DE in FA and you'll be looking at a DT.

Will also depend on what's left on the board but i know you are looking for a general steer.

Personally (subject to FA) i'd be looking at DL help - so I think your looking at Ealy, donald & Jerrigan. However if Mosley was still there i'd find it hard to pass.

I'd be taking a corner in the 2nd and safety in the 3rd.

Just after opinions from other Bears fans. This draft starts on the 17th March so will only have about a week of FA then it starts. It's possible we have Melton or A N Other End/D Tackle signed, if not its a matter of drafting as it is.

With regards to the 1st, the only thing I am 100% certain on is it won't be a corner. This class is really deep at CB and to spend a 1st would be excessive considering our other needs, which this draft class doesnt have as much talent in. DE or DT for example.
