The Chicago Bears waived the following 20 players Saturday:

P Zacrey Atterberry, DE Ervin Baldwin, T Cody Balogh, DE Dan Bazuin, DB Trey Brown, DE Joe Clermond, LS Thomas Gafford, WR Mike Hass, RB Joey LaRocque, TE Fontel Mines, OL Anthony Oakley, LB Mike Okwo, DE Nick Osborn, S Leonard Peters, G Ryan Poles, RB PJ Pope, G Tyler Reed, WR Brandon Rideau, G Chester Adams and TE Marcus Stone.

The Bears also terminated the contract of vested veteran FB Lousaka Polite.

Brandon Rideau is the one that stands out to me, thought he looked ok to me......

If Bradley hadn't shown some good things, I do think Rideau may have been the other option. If he doesn't get picked up by someone else (which I think he might) if we get season ending injuries we may see him again.

Since Orton was given the nod, I think Rex has stepped up and played some nice football..........maybe its all just mind games...
Unfortunately Rex's failings are all mental. You can't have an erratic QB.

You combine Orton's calm pocket presence and Rex's talent you get a v. good player.

As much as I hate the idea, using Rex as a 4th quarter come back option (which means he will play a lot) may get the best out of both.
Why would you put the QB with (IMO) the least pocket presence in the NFC North (if not the league), in for the comeback?
Simply because Rex has the talent to make the big throws when it is time to take chances. The reason he isn't the starter is because he is prone to ludicrous errors, which are less of an issue if we are 3 scores down.
If Kyle's misfiring, I could understand that.

BUT, if we're down 3 points, with 1:30 on the clock? I sure as hell know that in that huddle I wouldn't be confident with Rex back there.

'06 Rex? Maybe, but he's a shell of himself now.

I'm so happy the Bears kept Hanie on the roster, he looks like he's got real promise; however if we end up getting a really high draft pick, I'm not sure whether I'd prefer us to take Matthew Stafford or take Oher and develop Hanie.

Why bother with preseason? Really, he made plays and did all he could. Booker did nothing at all and he still gets cut. I really don't think it's a good message and shows how little pre season means.

To be fair i like the final roster but Rideau is unlucky.

They know what Booker can do, thats possibly why he wasn't used as much, and the others were given a chance to shine.

However, regarding Hester, his lack of game time could possibly indicate he isn't ready to be a full time receiver just yet.
If a system can be implemented where he can find space through short routes, his YAC could potentially be immense though.

To be effective they must be willing to leave Hester on the field for extended periods, unlike last year when everyone watching new it was either a screen or fly when he came on.
