Many will have bought Apple products not knowing the company's stance on taxation anyway. Countries need to work together better to stop multinationals from playing them off against each other. Ireland is appealing the decision - it doesn't want the 13bn euros as it fears probably that other companies will now ditch it and go elsewhere.
Never liked or used Apple products but after we leave the EU maybe our new status could lead to them moving here?

Equally, owning or using a product does not prohibit you from having an opinion on said company. I might hate Samsung, but my work gave me a Samsung tablet to use. I could not use it - but then I'd be breaching my terms and conditions and could find myself getting disciplined.
I happily use apple products at home. I also think they should pay the correct amount of tax.
Of course.

Nestle are supposed to have horrendous practices but really that doesn't stop me buying their things.

And every now and then stories come out on Reddit about them. Whereby they have continued with things like the above.

It was said on Reddit recently that if we continue using palm oil to the same degree, orangutans will be extinct in 10 years. I can't find the link.

And that palm oil is one of the main ingredients in Nutella I knew this yet I ate it yesterday.

I guarantee regardless of what Apple does people wouldn't care.

They act like they have principles on social media but when it comes to it.....

At the moment I would say the uncertainty of what on earth the UK's position is would deter companies.

Maybe missing the point but surely the Irish government offered Apple a deal they could not refuse or did Apple somehow blackmail a country.Think we see many countries who offer massive corps state aid or special favours to get them to bring jobs to area's.

The point is that state aid is illegal under EU rules and therefore the poster was wondering whether that might make the UK more attractive outside the EU if it could partake in state aid. Countries like the UAE do it all the time for example where Emirates gets favourable treatment over foreign airlines. But my answer is that nobody knows where the hell the UK stands on anything going forward, not even the UK. Would it be bound by EU state aid rules (Norway style)? Would it not but have its own rules on similar terms? Would it even leave the EU and when? Way too much uncertainty to attract business. In any event, Apple has had its Euro HQ in Ireland since 1985 so it is a long term thing and wasn't the company then that it is now. But it isn't coincidence that a lot of these tech companies (Google too) have chosen Ireland as Euro HQ. Regardless of the deal Apple struck with the Irish government, corporation tax is in any event low in Ireland compared to most European countries.

The environment sec., A. Leadsome, has promised to ban the use of plastic microbeads in cosmetic and other products. Hooray! The oceans have been saved for posterity from toxic pollutants. Well, only if the rest of the world follows suit. Otherwise, it’s just a moral massage for politicians, like closing all our coal- and gas-fired power stations to save the world from global warming when no other country is doing the same.
