Default Batch or Leftwich

It looks like Leftwich is recovering from his knee injury pretty well and he should be able to play on Sunday. Question is: Who should we start?

I think Leftwich is much better QB than Batch, and he played for the Bucs last year so he should play with a chip on his shoulder. But Leftwich has been rusty since he's been out for 3 weeks, he hasn't been able to practice with our receivers at all.

Batch on the other hand is pretty solid and he's had recent but limited experience playing with our wideouts. He won't lose us the game but I don't think he has what it takes to win it either.

Who do you think we should start?

Every time I think about it, it depresses the hell out of me. . . .

I think I'll have to go with Lefty, he stands tall in the pocket and can deliver strikes given enough time, . . . . as pointed out he's got something to prove against the Bucs and he shouldn't lack the motivation or the will to win.

He is also capable of going deep, and with Wallace yet to really show, . . . this could be the week we take some shots downfield.

TT

Personally I would start off with Batch and then introduce Leftwich later in the game to make sure he is ready.

Assuming he's totally healthy, I'd like to see us go with Leftwich.....but from the shotgun formation in an attempt to get the passing game going properly. This is with the Baltimore game in mind cos it's always been a waste of time trying to run against those guys. Quick strikes to Ward & Miller, mix in some draws & dump offs to Mendenhall, then unleash the bombs to Wallace & Brown. THEN when those big guys on D are on their knees pound it with Mendy & Redman.
Sounds easy sitting here with a beer in my hand!

QFT

I think if Leftys knee is ok then we have to go with him.

We also apperantly auditioned three free agent quarterbacks today: John David Booty, Levi Brown and Jarrett Brown (yes, who? indeed)

John David Booty is an alright QB. He used to play for USC and he did pretty good there. Under Pete Carrol they ran a pro-style offense so if all goes to hell he wouldn't be a bad last resort.

Very easy decision. If Leftwich is 70% fit then he starts. He may have a slow action but has a rocket of an arm. This would stretch the defence leaving more room for Heath, Hines and ARE in the slots. At the moment even with Wallace, we arent even attempting throws down the field.

Batch to start . . .

http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=5604508

Gotta play with the hand we've been dealt, . . .

I think Charlie has enough experience to not do anything stupid with the ball in hand, so
that's a definite plus, he did throw a TD pass, which was brought back last week after all . .

Charlie will get the job done IMHO.
