This may be more fun than the new qualifying.
Hadn't heard about that, could make things interesting during the race.

So Q3 ends with two minutes of empty track, what a surprise. Sort it out Bernie. Bring back refuelling and make teams start the race on the fuel that they finish qualifying. The top teams will use low fuelling to get to the front but have to take an early pit stop, while the teams at the back will likely load up in qualifying knowing that they will be at the back anyway, but would be in the mix for a while as they can take a longer first stint.

Well the last few seasons have seen my interest in F1 going down and today has pretty much killed it for me.

F1 Qualifying in Australia replay [12:10, Sky Sports F1] Not a spectacle, no last-minute scramble and tension, all rather meh. But Lewis Hamilton is on pole, so that's something.

A bit of an overlap with the Grand Prix, so that can go on the laptop and MotoGP on BTSport 2 on the TV.

Another reason why the new qualifying doesn't work. Cars get knocked out on the countdown as soon as the clock hits zero, but when the clock runs out at the end of the session the driver is allowed to finish the lap they are on, so whoever is last on the list when the chequered flag drops essentially gets a free lap. Shambles.

I'm amazed Alonso could walk away from that. Scary stuff.

That was good timing! Sky got the GP replay finished just before the Moto3 race started in Qatar.

The F1 was actually a decent race, Alonso was a lucky man to walk away from that.

I personally think the new tyre rules worked out quite well. Good to hear that qualifiying is going back to the way it was last year from the next race.

On the Moto 3 front what a race, the top 8 being that close for the entire race and a photo finish.

Also good to hear that KTM are joining the ranks of the Moto GP grid next year with Bradley Smith confirmed as one of their riders.
