Crabtree asking for top 5 money is a joke. You are not top 5 talent or you would have been picked there. The situation may be similar with Jeremy Maclin as well although i'm not too sure. Lots of people around him have been signed so it should be done pretty soon.

The fact is, Crabtree was picked at #10. Noone wanted him enough to pick him before that or trade up to get him.
He should take the ridiculous money that's on offer to the #10 pick and earn the elite paycheck that he wants by proving the 9 teams who didn't pick him wrong. He's just proving them right at the moment. You never hear about 4th rounders holding out because they thought they should have been picked in the second round. |

You can't claim you have the talent to be top 5 if you're not picked there. It just doesn't work that way. If he was top 5 talent then surely someone would have traded up to get him prior to the 10th pick. Maybe the fact that he had major surgery had an effect ...

If you have 6 draft prospects who are all potential number ones you dont say the guy picked sixth is the worst player and shouldnt be paid like a top 5 guy, its just the teams ahead picked the players that best fitted their needs Crabtree was definately in the top 5 of talent in the draft but the teams that picked before san fran just didnt need him as much as another player (minus oakland of course) |

You cant argue you should get money where you *think* you should have been picked.
I dont recall Aaron Rodgers asking for #2 overall money, or Brady Quinn. Maybe Darren McFadden should have asked for #1 overall cash last year, as most draftniks hade him rated as the best player on the board. Just take your cash , and get to camp, if your good enough, you will play and get paid later, as per Rodgers 6/$65m deal. |
