You can never say never. You can't.

Every team has a chance of winning every game they play in, so although it is unlikely that a team goes undefeated there is always a chance.

Completly disagree with the article whilst the points are in some cases valid as said above by Mackem every team has the ability to win every game.

You say that a team will bench it's starters at 13-0 and thus will lose some of their final games? Why can the back-ups not play beyond their potential and win games themselves, we've seen it before and will see it again. Plus teams will bench a few of their starters but not an entire offense, starting QB's tend to always start if not pulled late in the game so I do think the theory is a little null and void.

It is as ever difficult to do but it will happen again.

It will happen again, just a matter of time. Could happen next year or in 100 years but it will happen eventually.

I remember years ago reading an article saying no top tier football team (soccer) could go undefeated in a season. The next year Arsenal did it. OK not all wins, but its a different game and as much of an achievement us an undefeated NFL season.

What is more likely, a team going 19-0 or 0-16?

Agreed.

If the Pats could get within 1 game, as recently as 2007, in the free agency and salary cap era, I'm pretty sure someone will eventually go unbeaten again. 19 games is not that many to win in a row.

It may take a long time (who knows 10 years, 50 years 100 years?), but i'm pretty sure that eventually the stars will align and everthing will fall into place for someone, even if the NFL lengthens the regular season.

It doesn't matter as the only undefeated and untied team are still only 3rd best Single Season of all time behind 85 Bears and 89 49ers
