Pure coincidence (my original though was based on the bears lack of a QB) Total Access was just discussing this very subject!

If I heard correctly the Cowboys have 14 mill of cap space.Essentially, if Romo is slapped with an exclusive franchise tag other players on non exclusives may get poached or vica versa.

The NFC North was mentioned in it's entirety as a potential destination.

I think the Cowboys are mad not inking a contract NOW, NOW, NOW!

Romo has proven his quality. If they leave it 'til the off-season big offers may come from elsewhere.

I am hoping the Bears ownership are emptying their piggy banks as we speak!

Most contracts normally wait till the offseason or before. The Cowboys took a bit of a gamble and yeah its failed as Romos on fire. They cant win, if they signed him in the offseason they would have got slated for that as people were saying 'who is the real Romo?' as one moment he was on fire then cooled down at the end of the year.

Sure he'll sign a huge deal to stay in Dallas 100%

Oh, don't worry, the Cowboys have their future QB right now and they are not letting him go anywhere. They'll wait a few more games and then get the deal done. I don't see why Romo wouldn't want to stay.

Even if somehow he wanted to leave (he doesnt) theres not a chance Jerry Jones would let him go. He'll use the franchise tag and then he'll sign a huge huge contract. Dallas have been after a top QB for agessss and havent had one since Aikman retired. Jones wont let Romo go at all.

I suspect Jerry has already accidentally referred to him as Troy once or twice already...

Get the most out of his contract year before signing. All players play well in their contract year - no idea why :-\

The negotiations have probably already started but my guess is there won't be any signing till the end of the season. If Romo can take Dallas to the SB - which is hardly off the cards - it'll be worth his while waiting.
