Just read this on NFL.com.

Leaving the Cowboys to go to the 'skins is one thing, but to do so to do the exact same job?! This surely has to be Callahan bearing a grudge against Jerry for how he was treated.

Bad news for the 'boys too. Trent Williams is good as it is, they have a couple of young pieces on the O line too, throw in the draft and FA, and they will field a much improved O line next year.

*Thankfully our young O line have had a good grounding with Callahan. The foundation has been set, so they should be able to build on this year, even without Callahan's guidance.

**Frank Pollack takes over as Offensive Line Coach, he was Asst. Line Coach last season.

What was the issue between them? Spent this season familiarising myself with the team and players didnt read into much stuff behind the scenes.

Last season Callahan was effectively replaced by Linehan as offensive coordinator and had his play calling duties removed. The problem was, Jerry knowing how important Callahan was to developing the young offensive line, wanted him to stay and do just that. Callahan however wanted out, probably wanting another shot at being an offensive coordinator somewhere else.

Jerry stopped Callahan from interviewing elsewhere, which he was well within his rights to do. I think you only have to allow staff to interview elsewhere if the position being offered is a 'promotion', which would have meant HC. So Callahan was effectively held against his will, although I expect his financial compensation was pretty good for a plain old offensive line coach.

So basically Jerry wouldn't let him explore other opportunities last season, so all the good will went out of the window. Now Callahan can go and coach up the Redskins and face Jerry twice a year.

Now it makes sense. Did wonder why he would just switch teams for same role. He will have a point to prove now then.
