My favourite radio station (BOB FM), which had some amazing music variety, being taken over by Heart FM, which plays the same soulless dreck day after day...

the recent windows 10 update.

holy moly it has deleted ALL of my 950GB data, files and folders. for the past few days i have been trying to get help. but all i could do is spend £150 on recovery software and an external drive to save it on, which is taking bleeding ages but i can see it can recover 1.77 TB of stuff on my hard drive. been at it all weekend with laptop still downloading my removed files. but also the files aren't names in what i named them in as but are saved as generic numbers

More than a little worried now. Hope this isn't the case with everyone?...…….

Not a fan of the idea of having to back everything up externally!

windows basically f'ed me. their new update compressed all files, folders and downloads somewhere on C drive without explaining where everything went. i knew all my stuff where there somewhere cos of the amount of memory i had left. so i copied and pasted all my downloads to a folder i created on desktop. all good i thought then next day my laptop/windows updated again and everything was gone.

spoke to them on the windows community forum and they were no help at all. so i just bought recovery software. recovered all photos and mp3s and left my laptop on all weekend for the rest of stuff which came up as ITB of data (mostly videos). woke up today and the software cancelled. it'll take a couple of days for it to download the rest

the wanky software btw is 'wondershare recoverit'. it's slow af but seems the only way i can recover all my stuff. and bought a 2TB external hard drive to save it all on.
