think Pep seems to prefer the idea of Sanchez to Augero for some reason.maybe he is more likely to work for the team and can also play wide.

Evans is a pretty competent guy and can play he well on the deck for a CB.

add in the state of the market where most just above average players can reach £20m+

then the lack of high level CBs and you have this type of deal.

the teams after him is more of a shock than the fee.

I think to the general public (and some of the media) it's a case of 'well he wasn't good enough for Utd and they sold him for X amount to a club like West Brom, so therefore he's not good enough for any top 6 side ever again'.

The reality is, like you said, he's solid enough. In a good side he'll do a job for you. He's home grown. Wont take long to settle. Can rotate in and out of the side, especially in PL games. He's a squad player, and again like you say, the market has kicked up several notches this summer.

For West Brom it's a case of can we replace him.

City have signed a few foreign CBs and they have failed to live up to there touted potential/fees.

Looks like Ox realises now he won't get games in midfield for Chelsea either, and has turned them down.

Really sloppy transfer dealings from Chelsea with players still needed and the clock ticking. Waste weeks and weeks of time on a middling player ability wise to then be told he wont sign to play WB. Liverpool have more midfield options than Chelsea too so he might have to suck it up for a year at Arsenal now.

I'd have thought Liverpool would have been better off spending £40m on defenders who can defend, instead of mediocrity like Oxlaide-Chamberpot...
