Default Worst to first

What is the best 'worst to first' team you can remember in the NFL?

For me it's Jimmy Johnson's Cowboys. They went from 1-15 to 7-9 to 11-5 to 13-3 and Superbowl champions. A phenonmenal reversal of fortune for a franchise. Amazing what 3 draft picks can do. Troy Aikman, Michael Irvin and Emmitt Smith transformed a joke team into a contender and ultimately a champion.

It's the best worst to first story I can recall.

What's your favourite worst to first story?

What I love about that Cowboys story is it shows the parity of the NFL. A team can be the absolute pits of the earth and then within 3 years they can be the best team on the planet. You don't get that parity in 'football'. It's possibly the NFL's most endearing characteristic, it don't matter how much your team sucks, you are only ever a few draft picks away from being back in the mix.

I'm clearly biased but the 1998 Rams 4-12 to 1999 Super Bowl champions with a former grocery store worker at QB was pretty sweet. Would have repeated 2 years later if New England hadn't cheated .

'99 Rams for me too. I remember watching that season in disbelief.

I didn't realise the Rams had gone from 4-12 to Superbowl champions in one year. Ok, you win.

I can't say I entirely recall a worst to first scenario but historically the Cowboys in the 90s were incredible, seeing Detroit beat Washington after the disastrous 0-16 season (I called it by the way wish I had the stones to put money on it) was great to watch. As a Colts fan 2-14 to 10-6 was definitely enjoyable, long may the improvement continue.
