Again I agree with olig23.

This is a special teams issue after giving up two full field TD's and nearly another with the fake punt. They are brining in experienced ST'ers so as not to continue being embarrassing.

Vereen, unfortunately, was as soft as a pillow and has been terrible(completely lost positional wise).

It's not about favour - it's about being good and looking like you've a future.

Have to say I've been really impressed with Pernell McPhee this year, probably the best Linebacker we've had since Briggs and Urlacher.

He seems to have a knack of making big plays like the blocked kick yesterday or stopping the opposition running-back at 3rd and 1.

Whilst I can't see us making the play-offs it suggests he is a piece of our team to build on for the future anyway.

Yup, the guy is just a playmaker. He's been dominant against the run and good rushing the passer.

You know what? This D is really headed in the right direction.

The organization is just way better with Fox/Fangio/Gase. We look... organized and well led. We've lacked that for years.

If they can draft well in the summer and get rid of some bad contracts (not Cutler!) like Bushrod, Bennett and Houston we will have a platform on which to rebuild the team and really make strides towards being competitive again.

I really like the foundation we have with the coaching staff.

The Bennett contract isn't bad for the production. He is a top pass catching TE (last weeks horrible game aside).

Houston will likely be gone with a $4m cap saving, he can only stop the run and can't rush the passer as an OLB. He seems to not have a position - too slow to rush the passer and not stout enough to go inside to 5tech. His sack last week only came as Smith was forced into him due to good interior pressure. The caveat being that he may improve along with his knee as the season goes on.

Bushrod just can't stay healthy between his back, soft tissue injuries & now concussion.

Fangio has done an amazing job in particular - 10 points given up last week, none in the 2nd half by the D - away in Arrowhead - with 2 rookie safties. We are still talent deficient on the D, so when he gets a true #1 CB & playmaking ILB'er this could become an elite unit.

McPhee is an absolute best. In weeks 3 & 4 alone he had

- 15 tackles, 3 tackles for loss

- 2 sacks

- 4 quarterback hits

- 1 interception

- 1 pass deflection

He was top of PFF's 3-4 OLB at the end of week 4 (haven't looked since)

I think I perhaps over-stated it with Bennett. I don't mean he's a bad contract necessarily in terms of what we pay him. But I do think he's a big contract, a player who is quite up and down and someone I am not convinced wants to be on the team in the long term. If we're rebuilding I think we need to rebuild with guys who are ready to be a part of a rebuild, especially if we're going to pay them good money. As much as I do think he's a good player I wouldn't cry if we moved on from him.

Bushrod is clearly much better than Leno. He's also had a good year in the new offence. But I am not even slightly convinced he's a good LT. He's been pretty bad over the last two seasons. I think it will be interesting to see how he does over the entire season, but he's another whose contract and play are not very well correlated. Obviously, we cannot move on from him until there is an adequate replacement, but I think it's an area they should address if the opportunity presents itself, be that in the draft or FA.

Turns up 'in no condition to work'...leaves the premises, comes back, rows with Pace, collects P45 and leaves again.

Well we are certainly getting our money's worth this season.

We've signed Ziggy Hood to replace him.

Shame as Ratliff did well last season.

What an idiotic thing to do. Just ruined a chance to leave the past in the past.
