Default My football got punctured even though I didn't leave it outside

Hello everybody, I bought an American football from eBay some time ago.
I never got to play with it, and one day I just found it flat.

I remember two things which seemed strange to me:

1. The football was sent to me deflated

2. After I blew it up I noticed that over time (days or months) the ball was going flat (although this took time as I mentioned)

I want to say that the last time I blew it up I tried to do it with manual hand pump, and I inserted the pin all the way in.

A few days after I had blown it up, I found the ball punctured

Now it's not possible to blow it up at all, the air just comes straight back out..

This is the ball: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vp34CUy642o The older version of The Duke
(And there were white symbols on the ball, it has a very old appearance)

My questions:
1. Did the football get punctured because it was old?

2. Is it possible to repair the ball, is there something that repairs balls?

Sorry I didn't know where to post this, so if you can't help me could you suggest where to post it?

Thank you

That must have been a bit of a let down. I'm not surprised you feel deflated.

I'll get me coat.

I have a couple of balls and both of them tend to go flat if I leave them for a few months. Probably nothing to worry about.

You would have to use an ice-pick to puncture a football.

They will lose air over time...but you could leave it outside all winter - and unless the dog chews at it - it will be just fine.

I'd like to say you have a defective football - but I'm not sure there is such a thing. If anything the seams could come apart - say, if your dog chewed at it all winter.

Ive got a few of these footballs and gladly i bought them cheap from ebay as none of them hold air !!

they are only used as display pieces and a couple of them still even have the tags on !!

i was a bit shocked as these are meant to be the same football as they use in games but i heard its quite common and if you send them back to Wilson then they will replace the bladder free of charge ( probably only if you live in the US )
