Mike Maccagnan usually needs a good pick to fall into his lap, and that was the case here with Jamal Adams, who was an absolute slam dunk. Taking back to back Safeties was an odd move, but Marcus Maye has looked good so far. Elijah McGuire is a rare example of one of our late round picks contributing. Neither of our WR picks panned out...

So far from 9 picks it's looking like the Cowboys got 2 starters in their secondary. One of them, Xavier Woods, is looking like he could be great value at pick 191.

Taking Taco Charlton at 28 has been very underwhelming though. Could well be another 'need' pick that doesn't work out. (the 2017 Draft could've been a sign of things to come for the 2019 Draft). The Cowboys seem to do a poor job picking at the end of the round.

Ah the year Belichick decided to trade all our picks for veterans randomly, only 4 draft picks in the mid rounds, of which only Deatrich Wise has made any real impact - Derek Rivers tore his ACL in his first camp and is still recovering really.

Did pickup Adam Butler, Jacob Hollister, Cole Croston, Harvey Langi as UDFA who have all played and made the roster - a shame Langi had the car accident which has ended his career (he got hit up the rear waiting at a traffic light, him and his wife very lucky to survive).

They also picked up Austin Carr and Kenny Moore as UDFA's who didn't make the final roster, but have gone on to have careers elsewhere - Moore in particular doing well with the Colts

They traded Hollister to the Seahawks for a 7th round pick the other day too.

also we got Cooks for 1 season at less than $2m with our first round pick trade and then hopefully got our starting left tackle going forward in 2018 with the trade with the Rams a year later.

I always think of the 2017 draft for the depth of the RB class...
Leonard Fournette, Christian McCaffrey, Curtis Samuel (converted to WR in NFL), Dalvin Cook, Joe Mixon, Alvin Kamara, Kareem Hunt, D'Onta Foreman, James Conner, Tarik Cohen, Donnel Pumphrey (NCAA Division I ALL-TIME rushing yards leader), Wayne Gallman, Marlon Mack, Chris Carson, Corey Clement among others.

Also, remember the fuss over the deal the Bears made to move up from #3 to #2 for Mitchell Trubisky.

2018. Darnold or Rosen, Rosen or Darnold, Darnold or........Mayfield!

2018 Top 10:

1. Cleveland Browns: Baker Mayfield, QB. Oklahoma.
2. New York Giants: Saquon Barkley, RB. Penn State.
3. New York Jets: Sam Darnold, QB. USC.
4. Cleveland Browns: Denzel Ward, CB. Ohio State.
5. Denver Broncos: Bradley Chubb, DE. N.C. State.
6. Indianapolis Colts: Quenton Nelson, G. Notre Dame.
7. Buffalo Bills: Josh Allen, QB. Wyoming.
8. Chicago Bears: Roquan Smith, LB. Georgia.
9. San Francisco 49ers: Mike McGlinchey, OT. Notre Dame.
10. Arizona Cardinals: Josh Rosen, QB. UCLA.

Notable 1st round picks outside the top 10:

17. San Diego Chargers: Derwin James, S. FSU.
19. Dallas Cowboys: Leighton Vander Esch, LB. Boise State.
31. New England Patriots: Sony Michel, RB. Georgia.
32. Baltimore Ravens: Lamar Jackson, QB. Louisville.

Notable Picks:

36. Indianapolis Colts: Darius Leonard, LB. S.C. State.
149. Seattle Seahawks: Michael Dickson, P. Texas.

Notable UDFA:

Denver Broncos: Phillip Lyndsey, RB. Colorado.

I know we're only a year in, but that top 10 looks very good compared to some of the years we've seen. Even Josh Rosen, with a fresh start in Miami could come through. In fact the top 20 is looking solid, it could be one of the better 1st rounds we've seen.

Damn you Rod Woodson. Messed up the coin toss so the 49ers got ahead of us to take McGlinchey. Then Gruden traded down with the Cardinals (who took Rosen with our pick) for a 3rd and a 5th (rubbish compensation for a starting QB), wasted the 3rd on Martavis Bryant and packaged the 5th to move back up for turnstile OT Brandon Parker. Not to mention passing on Derwin James. Sigh....

Forgot about that coin toss. I wonder if they'd have still gone after Trent Brown if they'd got McGlinchey? With Mayock coming in i'd guess they would, but that coin toss potentially had a huge knock on effect as you pointed out. Who knows what happens with Rosen if the Raiders pick at 9, or who the 9ers take at 10. It might have re-shaped the entire round with James and Vander Esch (amongst others) possibly going earlier/later than they did.

It's probably too early but 2018 looked OK for us. Maurice Hurst, PJ Hall, Arden Key all flashed last season? Kolton Miller was a knee jerk pick because the guy we wanted got taken the pick before but he'll probably work out, at RT at least?

For the first time in, what, 10 years, we might have a half decent draft? Or at least one that isn't a total disaster.

Great Top 9 there. Rosen is going to bust. We all know it.
