2007. The Raiders are at it again...…..

2007 Top 10:

1. Oakland Raiders: Jamarcus Russell, QB. LSU.
2. Detroit Lions: Calvin Johnson, WR. Georgia Tech.
3. Cleveland Browns: Joe Thomas, OT. Wisconsin.
4. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Gaines Adams, DE. Clemson.
5. Arizona Cardinals: Levi Brown, OT. Penn State.
6. Washington Redskins: LaRon Landry, S. LSU.
7. Minnesota Vikings: Adrian Peterson, RB. Oklahoma.
8. Atlanta Falcons: Jamaal Anderson, DE. Arkansas.
9. Miami Dolphins: Ted Ginn Jr., WR. Ohio State.
10. Houston Texans: Amobi Okoye, DT. Louisville.

Notable 1st round picks outside the top 10:

11. San Francisco 49ers: Patrick Willis, LB. Ole Miss.
12. Buffalo Bills: Marshawn Lynch, RB. California.
14. New York Jets: Darrelle Revis, CB. Pittsburgh.
15. Pittsburgh Steelers: Lawrence Timmons, LB. FSU.
28. San Francisco 49ers: Joe Staley, OT. Central Michigan.
31. Chicago Bears: Greg Olsen, TE. Miami (FL).

Notable Picks:

37. San Diego Chargers: Eric Weddle, S. Utah.
46. Pittsburgh Steelers: LaMarr Woodley, DE. Michigan.
86 Baltimore Ravens: Marshal Yanda, G. Iowa.

Notable UDFA:

New Orleans Saints: Pierre Thomas, RB. Illinois.

Is there any comfort to be taken by some teams that this was a top heavy draft in some ways?

The 49ers didn't do too badly, Patrick Willis and Joe Staley in Rd 1, that worked out very well indeed.

The year the Raiders took JaMarcus when Megatron, Joe Thomas & AP was available. I’d take Russell to be THE greatest ever draft bust.

Darrelle Revis and David Harris? Not a bad couple of picks...

Chansi Stuckey had his moments as a 7th rounder too.

At least 5 HOFers in the Top 14 picks. Not many draft classes can say that.

1983 had six in the first round. 1989 with four of the top 5.

The Cowboys traded away from yet another QB in rd 1, this time Brady Quinn.

Just look back over the QB's in this draft class though!

Was Matt Moore, an UDFA, the best of the bunch?!!

2007 was an ok draft for us, Ross was decent but not great so a 1st rounder like that taints the class but we got Steve Smith, who was good before he got hurt.

Bradshaw at 250th, is pretty notable too.

we also got our LS, DeOssie who is still on the team now and Boss who was a decent TE for a bit and a good return on a 5th rounder.

To be fair Jabustus was the consensus number 1 pick that year and the Raiders were desperate for a QB. 'Favourite' story is the coaches giving him tapes to watch and see what he thought of blitz packages etc. The tapes were blank.

I wonder if the Browns or Buccs would've taken Russell if Johnson and Peterson went 1-2?

Imagine if the Browns had passed on Joe Thomas?!

I'd love to know what Al Davis made of Millen ringing him like that. He must have thought Millen was trying to play him, because he definitely would have been if the roles were reversed.

Also, what the hell was Millen doing ringing him in any case?
