ESPN 980s Chris Russell has said that Cowher is the front runner for the job,
My choice would be Bill O'Brien followed by David Shaw and Jay Gruden.

I hope it's not Cowher. That's another celebrity hire which is the last thing they need. It'll be another circus.

This is BS, at best.

From Bruce Allen's presser, it seems he and the personnel department will be responsible for making that decision (although I'm sure Dan will have to give his final approval to anyone chosen). Allen, with heavy influence from Scott Campbell and Morocco Brown may not be the FO setup all fans wanted to see, but what can we do but give it a chance? The latter two are supposedly well-regarded in NFL circles and are being given a greater chance to influence the direction of the team. The three of them are no doubt being given enough rope to either lasso themselves a Lombardi or hang themselves with so we'll see how this goes. As Allen stated, it's a step by step process and I'm eager to see where those next steps take the team and us as fans.
