I wrote this when City drew Cov in the FA Cup a few years ago, when City were in League 1.

That game.
I was 13 and used to go to games with Wayne who was 16 and lived a few
doors up the street. We decided for this one we had to bunk off school.
It was the only time I ever did, and boy was it worth it.
We got the bus to the nearest motorway junction and stuck our thumbs
out. It hadn’t crossed our minds to use a sign. Eventually we got a lift
to Strensham Services. From there we had to wait hours. Then two guys
going to the game picked us up in their van. Wayne and I were in the
back with two nut jobs, but we couldn’t care less. We were definitely
going to get to the game.
As we approached High field Road the guy riding shotgun pulled out a
baseball bat and wound down the window. There were some Cov fans walking
in the same direction as us. As we got about 10 feet from them the guy
shouts 'oi'. One turned around and to his horror saw the guy swinging
the baseball bat at his mates head. It hit the unsuspecting Cove fan,
and bent. It was made of foam. The guy who saw nearly had a heart
attack. The two who gave us a lift thought it hysterical. Wayne and I
decided we'd find another way home.

As everyone knows the game was a stalemate at 2-2, with all eyes on the
scoreboard. Sunderland had lost at Everton. The draw would keep both
teams up. I've never experienced to scenes in the ground that night
before or since. As the game was played out the stewards opened the
gates between both sets of supporters. We traded our scarves and danced
and sang together like long lost brothers. Outside the ground where
before the game it had been very tense, everyone was shaking hands and
singing and couldn’t be happier.

Wayne and I were put 'on report' for a month, and I wasn’t allowed to go
to the youth club until my school punishment was over.

Was it worth all the grief afterwards? Je ne regret rein.

Yesterday Gary Johnson said the draw wasn’t met with universal joy by
(Bristol) City fans. But I am sure those of us, of a certain age all
thought YES

Signed up on here but have never used it overly seems there are other sites around which I think are better (google NFL Out of Hours...though there are only 2 Cards fans on there, be nice to have more :P) but that's just me.

Should be going to Wembley this year. Money is in my account waiting, alarm set for 9am on Monday (so I'm up in plenty of time after SNF finishes) so I will hopefully get tickets then.

I am a Derby County fan and hope I don't see another monumental collapse one in a life time is enough.

The thing is I can cope with the mediocrity it's the hope you get being completely destroyed that I can't stand. Hoping for 12th in the Championship this year and 11th the next.
