Default Who's the Pick?

Draft Day! Perhaps my favourite day of the NFL calendar along with the SB! Getting excited now!

Who does everyone think is the pick at the end of the day if the Bears stick firm at 7?

I think the first round goes like this....

1. Bucs - Jameis Winston QB
2. Titans (or trade up team) - Marcus Mariota QB
3. Jags - Leonard Williams DE
4. Raiders - Amari Cooper WR
5. Redskins (or trade up team) - Dante Fowler Jr DE/OLB
6. Jets - Vic Beasley LB
7. Bears - Alvin 'Bud' Dupree OLB

Ryan Pace said in his 'presser' yesterday that he had 7 players he was 'comfortable' with selecting. Of course he has to say that really, but I do believe him on that. I think that all of the above players are those 7 that Pace mentioned. In fact the order of the big board for the Bears would probably look something like this too. Bears are desperate for some identity on Defence and any of the above pass rushers will help them do so. Fox is known for drafting pass rushers in his first seasons at new teams Peppers (Carolina), Von Miller (Broncos). I know we are clamouring for a WR after Marshall was traded but like last year the draft is stacked well in the 2nd/3rd for an impact player at the position. I like a speed receiver like Philip Dorsett out of Miami (4.3s player) to give us some legitimate speed on the outside or in the slot.

As we found out a few seasons ago we stand a better chance of winning more games and making the playoffs with a good Defence and poor/adequate offence than the other way around. Our offence and Jay Cutler cannot be relied upon to carry the team.

Candidates to trade up to no.2 are the Browns or Eagles. Atlanta are desperate for a pass rushers so don't be surprised to see them jump us and the Jets for help from no.8 to no.5. If not I'm going to be bold and say they surprise everyone and pick Todd Gurley RB earlier than others think.

8. Atlanta - Todd Gurley RB
9. Giants - Kevin White WR
10. Rams - Brandon Scherff OT

I would've liked to have seen us take Beasley, but I think White is still a good pick and fills a position of need.

Well... I didn't really want to pick White. But it's done now. At the end of the day who knows how these prospects will work out.

Value wise it was in line with the consensus.

This is a pick for the regime. What I mean by that is that it's their first year and they're not on the hook to win right now. It's a player with perceived upside and one that might take 2-3 years to really show how well it has worked. I don't mind that too much. It will all come down to how White applies himself.

In terms of getting better right now, I don't think it helps us a great deal. I do hope we get a Nose Tackle though since it's unclear if Ferguson has the ability to fil that role in the 3-4 and it's so vital.

Quite happy with the White pick. We needed another WR to go opposite AJ.

Who do we think we will get tonight?

I'm hoping for Gregory or Collins.
