Default Packers looking for a QB?

Not sure how seriously to take this report ...

I guess it depends how bad Flynn's injury is.

Yep i think we really need to look at a vet QB, Brohm is having a bad camp and from all reports and if he's our number 2 if Flynn is down then we are in trouble.

Can't do us any harm to bring someone in to compete for a spot.

It's far too early to cut Brohm, he was a second round pick a year ago and he'd be snapped up by a team immediately. It took Rodgers three years to get to grips with the offense, and he looked awful in his first two pre-seasons. Moreover, it'd be incredibly harsh to cut Flynn, who has done nothing but perform since he got to Green Bay.

It's not an ideal situation, but if the Packers went with Flynn and Brohm as backups last season, there's no way I can see them cutting one of them this season.

The thing with brohn is that it doesn't look like he's developing like rodgers did or like Flynn is.

I agree its to early to cut him but atm he's not showing that he can be a quality back up, never mind be a starter.

Maybe we could get something trade wise for him.

Flynn is OK, and might play this week:

On TA they said the Vikings were trying to trade Jackson but couldnt so there must have been no merket for brohn. Its a big fall for a second round pick in 1 season, 3rd QB in that draft. Maybe they will pick up Garcia

Brohm has already been cut by the Packers. He's still on the practice squad, which means he can continue to participate in drills and training but he's not eligible to play on Sunday's. He would have to be elevated to the 53 man roster for him to be eligible (meaning someone else would have to be released). Players on the practice squad, as they're not part of the roster, are also able to be signed as free agents by any team without compensation.

As for the two quarterback argument, many teams across the league this year are going forward with only two quarterbacks. The Packers did it in 2007 with only Favre and Rodgers on the roster for the first 12 or so weeks (they ended up signing Craig Nall later in the season). The most compelling argument for only two quarterbacks is that if your third quarterback has to come in the game, you're pretty much finished anyway. To be honest if Rodgers goes down the Packers go from a potential playoff team under him to a contender for a top 10 draft pick under Flynn.
