Which one of these do you think is most probable and possible of the ways of paying for the stadium?

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The stadium plans at a glance
Mayor Bart Peterson has proposed an $800 million project to build a Colts stadium and expand the Convention Center. Several proposals have emerged, including one offered Friday by House Ways and Means Committee Chairman Jeff Espich.

The Espich plan• Summary: Espich, R-Uniondale, offered a series of revenue-raising proposals that he said would generate $109 million annually. Among them: Charge up to a $10 tax on tickets at the new stadium. Increase Marion County's food and beverage tax by one percentage point. Increase the county's hotel tax from 6 percent to 12 percent and its car rental tax from 2 percent to 6 percent. Create an economic development income tax of 0.25 percent.

The Peterson plan
• Summary: Mayor Bart Peterson wants $46 million annually from slot machine taxes to fund the stadium. Among funding sources for the Convention Center project, he would increase the county's hotel tax to 9 percent, the car rental tax to 4 percent and its ticket tax from 5 percent to 6 percent.

The Murphy plan
• Summary: State Rep. Mike Murphy, R-Indianapolis, has proposed House Bill 1702, calling for 5,000 slot machines split between horse tracks in Anderson and Shelbyville. Indianapolis would receive $48 million a year for the stadium. Indianapolis Public Schools, the Indiana Sports Corp., and cities and counties elsewhere also would receive money.

The Messer plan
• Summary: House Bill 1569, proposed by Rep. Luke Messer, R-Shelbyville, also would split 5,000 slot machines between horse tracks in Anderson and Shelbyville. Indianapolis would get $30 million annually for a new stadium, but Messer has said that number could increase. Other money would go to the horse-racing industry, the state and cities.

Proposal highlights
Rep. Jeff Espich, R-Uniondale, proposes increasing taxes in Marion County to raise $109 million to fund a new Colts stadium. Here are the highlights of the plan:

• Raise the hotel tax from 6 percent to 12 percent. Could total $20 million a year.
• Raise the tax on renting cars from 2 percent to 6 percent. Could raise $4 million a year.
• Begin taxing tickets to events in the new stadium, up to $10 per ticket. Could raise $10 million a year.
• Place a 2 percent excise tax on the salaries of professional athletes who play in the new stadium -- both home and visiting teams. Could total $2 million a year.
• Boost by 1 percent the tax on food and drinks sold in restaurants and bars in Marion County. Could total $16 million a year.

If Brock is not retained, I can see taking an end in the draft, and if the best player on the board is a Matt Roth /Justin Tuck type player, perhaps selected even in round 1, especially if the Mathis at LB experiment is decided to be a full go project.
Interesting. I wouldnt take a end in the 1st round, LB is our biggest problem and CB is also a problem. As for Mathis - Maybe he could play a bit of DE in passing downs and LB other downs? Will give us good speed at LB!

Quote:
I'm starting to believe that our defensive system makes the player in June's current spot the automatic team leader in tackles..... look at the leaders we have had in tackles.... Peterson, Thornton and June, all of whom played ROLB.
Its always going to be that way because we all know freeney is a excellent pass rusher but isnt too good against the run, so the majority of teams, the majority of the time will run through the RightEnd and RightDefensiveTackle because freeney is after the QB!

Quote:
If Thornton is not retained, expect a draft pick to go here.
This has got to be looked at, can we get a MLB and OLB in the draft that will change the team or are we looking at FAs? What? Im not too sure! ???

I know of that I'd love to see would be Kendrell Bell.... he's familiar with playing inside linebacker in a zone based scheme, and is solid against the run and can blitz.... and he's got attitude. There are a few others possible... Chris Claiborne, Nate Webster, Jamie Duncan, Ronald McKinnon , and the 2nd best option out there most likely Edgerton Hartwell . If we can't get Bell or Hartwell, I can see a draft pick being devoted here.
FAs - are we gonna have enough? We all know the cap situation in Indy!!!
