I suppose it's a good thing I don't negotiate contracts, because I'd be at the point of telling Crabtree/ Smith (?) to sod off and declare for next years draft by now.

Do players who hold out this long typically achieve anything or do they spend the rest of their careers proving that their egos are much bigger than their abilities?

Every year guys hold out, and every year they end up slotted anyway. If nothing else it tells you who to avoid signing as a FA in 3-4 years.

The Bengals seem to be criminally lowballing Smith tbh.

They're refusing to go anywhere near the deal DHB got at 7, which was high enough, but not crazily out of whack with the rest of the slots. Smith's agent is fairly understandibly holding out for more.

The woman the Bengals have dealing with contracts etc (assuming the Hard Knocks program is portraying the right one as the person that makes the calls) just seems tragically out of touch - no wonder the Bengals regularly have a holdout.

Andre Smith signed. The four-year deal includes $21 million guaranteed. The team has an option after the 2010 season that would turn it into a six-year deal that includes $29.5 million guaranteed.

He didn't run topless at the combine - he didn't do any working out at all at the combine.

what is crabtree hoping to get now his rookie season is a washout especially with the difficult transition of a WR to the pro game. theres no point in the 49rs giving him more money to get him signed.

he cant wait and declare for next years draft because teams will remember this fiasco and steer clear of him.

its loose for crabtree and loose for the 49rs
