Default NFL to fine team if players don’t stand for anthem

In news from the owners meeting today, the NFL have announced that from next seasons teams will be fined if any players doesn’t stand for the anthem.

However has a cop out in that players don’t have to be on the field for the anthem, so if they don’t want to stand they have to stay in dressing room or elsewhere offf the field so not visible to TV. Can then enter the field after the anthem is concluded.

Players Union not happy as say they weren’t consulted.

It's a complex subject, but if players want to stay in the locker room for the anthem then so be it. There absence will be highlighted anyway, so their message gets across.

I know individual players are already complaining about this, but whether they kneel, raise hands, or just stay in the locker room, then surely it's all a form of protest that highlights their concerns.

The club discipline, or lack of, is obviously going to draw comment from Trump when the time inevitably comes, but hopefully the players/teams can rise above that and not escalate things.

Stay in the locker room (and/or raise your message via social media) or stand for the anthem. Then just get on with football.

There's an easy solution, get shot of the anthem before every game. Shame on ALL the owners for agreeing to this fiasco. Player strikes! !
