Need to decide on what kind of defense we're doing and if we're going with an extra WR, TE, RB or FB I guess. Or for the latter, have a 'flex vote' once we have decided on 2 WRs, 1 TE and 1 RB?

Seeing as it's 'top 5's' we can figure out defensive/offensive personnel at the end. We should end up with a reasonably deep pool of names to choose from.

It's more a case of including the right categories like 'slot WR/CB' and figuring out how to seperate/incorporate 3/4 and 4/3 DL and LB's. Alot of elite stand up 3/4 LB's are 4/3 DE's in the nickel.

Tbh I think most players who'll recieve votes will fit hybrid D's.

These were the positional categories I was considering

QB (1)
RB (1)
WR (2)
SLOT (1)
TE (1)
T (2)
G (2)
C (1)
----------------
EDGE (2)
DT (2)
OLB (1)
MLB (2)
S (2)
CB(2)
-----------------
K (1)
P (1)
ST (1) (inclu Returners/LS/Gunners etc)

The biggest issue/headache is being able to work around a defensive front 7 as so many different schemes and hybrid players to consider

Anyone any ideas how to approach this?

Was thinking of putting 1st position up on Monday

The basis of selections based upon the Top 5 players (discounting the 2018 rookie class) at the position right now as you see it. How an individual selects their Top 5 is up to them. How people weight past achievements or potential versus current showing is entirely a subjective thing. That way we may have a little more discrepancy

....Again thoughts would be welcome

With so much nickel being played a 3rd CB probably makes sense? Might not necessarily need a 'slot CB' catergory, but having an extra CB would be good imo. Maybe balance that up on offence with a 2nd TE?

The front 7 issue is hard to solve, but if we're leaving past achievements vs future performance as a subjective thing then I suppose scheme fit is subjective too.

We might find things don't fit perfectly once it's all said and done, but we'll have a pool of 'top 5' players to choose from if we need to move things around (and have further debate?).

An idea if we're going to build a 'team' with a few rotation options for the coach, rather than a starting XI with a fixed formation. 15 players on offense and 15 players on defense.

QB
RB 1
RB 2
FB
WR
WR
WR Slot
TE
TE
OT
OT
OT
OG
OG
C

DE
DE
DT
DT
OLB (3-4)
OLB (3-4)
OLB (4-3)
MLB
ILB
ILB
SS
FS
CB
CB
CB Nickel

Cheers for the input but Tbh this over complicates the initial premise. I think this works better & develops debate as a subjective thing when it comes to type of players

An example being RB. Does an all-round guy who does a bit over everything beat out a guy who is a better runner but does little else.
It also focuses the mind in regards to who each of really should make the list and also how each of us value certain types of players over others

This could take a while if we sub divide each position to take into account all different types of players
