I think the problem with our offense is that JC still takes too long to go through his reads, especially against a top-drawer pass rush like the one the Giants have. By the time he's looked off his top two targets (i.e. Moss and Cooley, unless its a spread formation) the pocket will be starting to disintegrate around him and he gets flushed out before he can check down to his other options, Kelly and Thomas. This problem was highlighted on Sunday because our run game was so surprisingly poor. It ensured that we'd be looking at 2nd and long all the way through the game. The run-first play-calling from Zorn didn't help this

I just wanted to see some improvement on last season's opener.

A lot looked very similar but two positives stuck out for me:

1. The win deficit was lower.
2. The Redskins scored two TDs to last year's none.

I believe we did score a TD thru Santana Moss last season.
I also think that we looked more threatening offensively in the passing game (when play calling was right for once).

You're right on both counts. Don't know how I forgot the Moss TD.
