Default Patriots fire coach

O line coach is sacked after dreadful display against the Panthers, bit unfair considering all the injuries I thought.

If only they'd got a shot at a dreadful display against the Panthers.

Apparently Brady was hit more times than against Denver than any quarterback from any game in the last 6 years or something crazy like that!

Something needs to be done about that line before next season! Lets hope this is a step in the right direction! It looks as though we'll get to hold on to the rest of the coaches which should hopefully help build up a more reliable team next season!

Think people are forgetting that the O-line coach is also responsible for the blocking scheme's in the run game which has been awful this season,Belichick is not one for a knee jerk reaction so guess this has been a season long problem not just the 20 hits on sunday.

A whole thread for an O line coach being sacked.

Anyway...I actually thought it was harsh considering all the injuries.

Click bait for those thinking (hoping) it was Belichick.

Don't think this was really worthy of it's own thread, did already mention it in the off-season thread as well. As for those saying it's harsh with the injuries I'm not so sure. Solder went out for the season sure, but beyond him no one else was out for extended time. Let's not forget he was chopping and changing the line well before any injuries anyway.

I also agree with Lee somewhat when it comes to the running game. Our run game was absolutely awful this season against any team with a half decent run defence. There is no way that should be the case on a weekly basis looking at some other teams run games. Changes had to be made somewhere and it was always unlikely to be the players making way in this situation.

Apparently his contract was expiring and they chose not to renew it, rather than outright firing him

Convenient and nicer way of doing the same thing.

The O-line was an issue all year, not just vs Denver, and yes there were injuries but also serious investment in the position. They had everyone against Denver except Solder.

As bad as the denver game was for the o-line we have to remember Vollmer was playing on a bad ankle and Cannon is a back up tackle at best but even a fully healthy Solder/Vollmer would have there hands full with Ware/Von Miller on there day.

Think we drafted some guys last year but maybe we see why early in the season we where rotating lineman almost ever drive, guys are going to take time to become full time starter and in the salary cap era we have to try and save money sonewhere and if the tackles are costing $16m then you maybe have to put up with cheap guards.

Trust Belichick will have a guy lined up to come in and make the front 5 less of an issue but as we have said the lack of a running game allows teams to just tee off on almost every snap so once Lewis is back we will see who else we bring in as the bigger back.
