I'm not giving up on EJ yet - a lot of the things he did were pretty bad, but he did do some good stuff as well it's just at times he didn't seem to "get it" - even after we simplified the playbook in week 10 or 11. Hopefully he'll spend the off-season studying film and schemes instead of getting into fights at clubs and come back next year an improved player.

Maybe losing his starting job will give a kick up the ass. How would anyone feel about maybe letting him battle DT for the wil position - coz Nattiel can't be far off getting cut.... can he ???

The Sharper rumour seems bizzare at best unless Cottrell's got his way and we're gone play plenty of 3-4 :-\

Hopefully Smith will be kept, as already said he was doing great when he was in but concussions are iffy injuries to have.

I think this is how our LB depth looks at the moment:

WLB: DT, Nattiel
MLB: Cowart, EJ, Davis
SLB: Harris, Smith

Think EJ could switch to the weak side? I certainly dont think hes better than DT anyway.

On the miracle that we take DJ, where the hell would he play...

DJ will play weak side. I don't care how much the coaches like DT if theres a chance to upgrade with another quality player it has to be done. Nattiel would get cut and we'd have DT for backup.

I just dont see them taking DJ. In order for them to take him he'd have to be by far the BPA available, and that would require falling to #18.

If he's there at #7 they'll pick someone else, cos there's other holes to be addressed. There's no way they'd willingly bench a high choice rookie who actually played pretty well without it not really being a choice.

If Edwards and Williams are gone at 7, why not take a chance that this guy could be the best player in the draft? In a couple of years he could be a perennial pro-bowler. There are other holes but not really any that need to be addressed immediately. I'd love to see him in purple but won't lose any sleep if he's not because whether we get him or not we should have a good team next year.

The problem is that there might not be any other player there that we would consider worthy of that pick so if he's BPA we should take him or wait see who offers to take him from us.

Vikings sources:

At the moment i'm just using my usual draft/football sources to pick up on anything vikings related, but i know some of you use some more vikings orientated places...

Any of them actually any good, preferably just some reading i'm after.

Ta :x

Only places know are purplepride.org forums which are pretty bad, and kansasviking.com which has a decent enough message board thats a little more mature than the purplepride one.

Vikings | Sign Packers' Kampman to an Offer Sheet - from www.KFFL.com
Wed, 13 Apr 2005 09:40:49 -0700

ESPN.com's Len Pasquarelli reports the Minnesota Vikings have signed Green Bay Packers restricted free agent DE Aaron Kampman to a one-year offer sheet. Financial terms of the offer sheet were not immediately available. The Packers have first right of refusal and can match the offer. If they do not, the Packers would receive a fifth-round draft choice from the Vikings as compensation.

40 games 120 total tackles 77.0 tackles 43 ast 7 sacks 5 pass def in 3 years in GB.
Might not be a bad guy to get for depth for only a 5th rounder
