Max Boyce,
He is the reason I follow the boys, pity we never saw his punting skills put to the test

Have to agree with Aikman, Smith, Irvin, fantastic to watch. How about Tom Landry best ever coach?

Easily, he is the longest tenured coach of all time so that says something about how good he was. Plus his insurmountable record of opening day wins. Add a Fedora to that and there is no way he can be topped. And that's not even including his 2 superbowl wins

Awesome trade too to say who we drafted with the first of them picks.

Also to say Walker didnt have too much of a happy time with the Vikings makes the trade a whole lot better from a Cowboys point of view.

7 high draft picks plus 5 players for him and 2 3rd round picks. What were the Vikings thinking when offered that amount anyways???? I know he was good but come on they could of built an awesome teams with them picks,

I seem to remember at the time they thought they were a quality running back away from being a Superbowl team. Very much a trade that was all about the present for the Vikings not the future.

Certainly but you would of fort they would of bin a little cautious. To think as well Emmitt was in the draft. Bet they kicking themselves thinking that could of bin them who had him they would of had that running back to make them that Super Bowl team

Growing up in the 80's i was a huge fan of Herschel Walkers, was gutted when he left Dallas but happy to get the huge trade ! I liked it when Herschel came back to us at the end of his career and had a few decent kick returns.

Followed Troy Aikmans career since he was drafted, a lot of fans wanted Steve Walsh to be the QB specially after Aikman went 0-11 his rookie year and Walsh came in and got the Cowboys only win. Then fans wanted Steve Beurelein in 1991 as Aikman was injured, Beurelein came in at halftime to help defeat the previously undefeated Redskins and then led Dallas to the playoffs.

Aikman was such a great QB for the Cowboys, he didnt have to throw it 40 times a game or throw for 300 yards every week but when it mattered he stepped it up a gear, specially against the classic win over the 49ers in the NFC game in 1992.

Very sad he was injured and then retired, great great QB for Dallas.

My other favourite was Bill Bates, looked a slow safety, #40 played a ton of years for Dallas, remember he had a pair of ints (might have been 3) against the Giants in one game in 1987. Very happy to see Bates get a SB ring (and then get another two !).

Not the most famous Cowboy, played 15 years for Dallas and in this day and age its very rare for a player to play that long for one team.

Jay Novacek was another great one, picked him up as a Plan B free agent from Phoenix and he was the perfect fit for the offense back then.

For me Emmitt was probably my favourite. People slated him for going after the record later in his career but hell, wouldnt you ! Smith did well late on with the Cowboys when the team was in decline, had a good final year with over 900 yards with the Cards. Had a ton of great runs over the years, great great back. Shame to hear the criticism of Emmitt which is unwarranted.
