Below are the league's additional rules

Roster:

Teams may contain a maximum of 26 active players during the season. Each May, a rookie draft will take place. Each team may also have 2 players on Injured Reserve (IR).

On the day of the rookie draft the roster sizes will be increased to 30. Any team that has more than 4 rookie picks, and therefore would go over the 30 limit, must drop a player from their roster before making the selection that would make them exceed the limit. If you so wish, a pick can be forfeited by contacting the Commissioner. The day after the final pre season games each year will be our 'cut day' where every team has to reduce their roster back to 26.

IR rules are listed below.

Injured Reserve (IR)

A. Each team will be limited to 2 IR spots.
B. Players may be placed on Injured Reserve if they are designated as "IR", “O” or "S" by MFL.
C. Players on Injured Reserve that get traded are immediately activated to the active roster. The acquiring owner can choose whether to place them on IR.
D. Players on Injured Reserve lists that get released from the roster become free agents.

Trades:

Trade deadline is the Sunday prior to week 14 each season and will be closed until the completion of the fantasy play offs (end of week 16)

Trades involving draft picks can only be one season in advance. For instance, 2014 draft picks can not be traded until the end of the 2012 season.

No trades may be made that include real cash, future considerations, or a player to be named later.

Any trade that appears to be suspicious or detrimental to the integrity of the league may be vetoed if eight owners vote to overturn a trade. Owners will have 48 hours to contest a trade and a poll will be set up by the Commissioner.

Free Agents:

The league will use the "blind bidding waiver request process". Each franchise will have a total of $300 per year (in fictional money) to use toward bids on available free agents. Minimum bid is set at $0, so if you think you will be the only bidder, save your cash! Any money not used toward picking up free agents will be forfeited the day of the NFL Draft and everyone will be given a fresh $300 to play with following our rookie draft each year.

During the season the waiver wire system is set up as follows but is subject to change to fit the situation (e.g. slight changes may be made for Thanksgiving week, Christmas etc)

Blind bidding waiver requests (in season):

Tuesday 5am until Wednesday 6pm

Wednesday 6.15pm until Thursday 8pm

Friday 6am until Saturday 6pm

First come first served free agent requests (in season):

Sunday 3pm until Sunday 5.45pm (this is primarily to ensure every team can field a kicker!)

Blind bidding waiver requests (in the off season):

During the off season there will be one blind bidding waiver requests processed per week which runs from Wednesday 7.15pm until the following Wednesday at 7pm

Starting line ups:

Owners are required to field the best possible lineup each week. Players on bye cannot be started and owners must make a legitimate attempt to replace the player on bye if they are not able to field a roster position with their current lineup. Additionally, players on the NFL's injured reserve list must be replaced in the starting lineup by the second game they are on the list. Failure to comply with this rule three times within one season will result in removal from the league. The commissioner reserves the right to apply these rules more harsly or more leniently if he wishes (depending on the circumstances!), but will always consult with the other owners before action is taken.

Owner Inactivity:

There will be no official strike system, however it is expected that all owners log in at least once every two weeks during the off season (preferably once a week to check for any trade offers / other league information), and at least once a week during the fantasy football season. If circumstances mean that you will be unable to do this you must contact the commissioner. Like above, failure to comply with these rules three times within one season will result in removal from the league.

Rule Changes:

Each year, any owner can request any rule changes they wish. These changes will be voted upon by all owners during the month of June each year. If a rule change is approved that will affect scoring, that rule will not go into effect until 1 year after so that owners have a season to plan for the change(s) through the draft and trades.

Toilet Bowl:

At the end of Week 13, teams not making the playoffs will participate in the Toilet Bowl play offs. Teams with the 7th and 8th best overall record (total points as the tiebreaker) will have a bye in Week 14. 9th best overall record will play against 12th best record. 10th best record will face 11th best record. Week 15 will have 7th best record against lowest remaining seed and 8th best against 2nd lowest seed. The Toilet Bowl will take place Week 16.

Finances

Cost to play will be £15 per season per franchise, this will include the cost of the league website.

The league fee per year is $70 which is roughly £45

Payouts

Total league pot this year is £180 (- £45) which will be paid out as follows:

1. Owner with the most total points scored by their starting roster, during weeks 1-13, will win £15

2. Winner of the Fantasy Super Bowl, which will be held in Week 16, will win £60.

3. Loser of the Fantasy Super Bowl will receive £30

4. Winner of the 3rd place play off game held in Week 16, will win £15

5. Winner of the Toilet Bowl will be paid £15

This money will all be paid out within a week of the Fantasy Football season ending (unless I need your money for last minute Christmas presents!!)

Draft Order:

Draft order for each year's rookie draft will consist of 4 rounds. Picks 7-12 will be determined by playoff results. Winner of the Fantasy Super Bowl will receive pick #12, loser of the Super Bowl will receive pick #11, winner of 3rd place game will receive pick #10 and loser of the 3rd place game will receive pick #9. The two losing teams from the first round of the play offs will pick #8 and #7, with the team with the worst regular season record of the two teams picking #7

Pick numbers 1-6 will be determined by total team record. Tiebreaker will be head-to-head matchup and if still tied, total franchise points will be the final tiebreaker. If anybody is clearly tanking their team to increase their draft pick, they will lose their position in the first round and automatically drop to the #12 pick in the first round and resume their original spot in the draft starting in round 2. Draft will be standard style, just like the NFL where each round will be picks 1-12

Replacement Owners

1. All drafts are frozen until the open franchise has been filled.

2. If an owner leaves during the season the commissioner will submit a lineup until a replacement is found. The commissioner will make every effort to find someone outside of the league to submit the lineup temporarily.

Lads I have also set up the play off league as discussed, and will shortly send you all an invite.

The scoring rules are exactly the same as we have used all season, but there aren't head to head match ups each week,

Its a league which is normally referred to as "contest-style" lineups, where you don't maintain a roster, but instead, can start any player once, and only once, throughout the NFL playoffs. The winner of the league is simply the franchise with the most total points after the Super Bowl. So, there's strategy in who you start when. If you think the Patriots will lose in the first week of the playoffs, you could start Brady in the first playoff week. But, if you think they'll make it all of the way to the Super Bowl, you could hold off, and not start him until later in the post-season.

All for a bit of fun unless people want to put a few quid into the pot again?

Loving the new thread, good work Willo (and Ken for making it a sticky so fast!)

Might be good to add a link to the league homepage in the 1st post as well?

grrrr I totally forgot to pick Matt Flynn back up. Now, no offense Chris. I'll have to spend Free Agency hoping he doesn't get traded!

As much as I've quickly become Cam Newtons biggest fan, I wish I'd have kept Russell Wilson out of that trade offer. Must be the biggest surprise of the year that guy

In the off season I was thinking of having one waiver wire process per week, especially as some people don't monitor the goings on of every team when it's out of season. What do you think? Happy to keep it as it is if people would prefer that though?

Yes, I think this would be a great idea.

Stu I know you said you wouldn't want to carry on if the entry fee was raised to £20 but any chance we can compromise at £15? I think that extra bit of prize money would give me a bit more flexibility to offer a bigger prize to 1st and 2nd plus add a small prize for 3rd (especially thinking about the 3rd place prize even if only £15 to cover the following years entry fee - I finished 3rd in both dynasty leagues I'm in and I would have actually been better off finishing 4th as got no prize money and just dropped a spot down in the 2013 rookie drafts).
