Bengals have played one game less than Steelers so taking the draw into account their win PCT is very very slightly better than the Steelers.

Also the Bengals could be overtaken by the Steelers and the Ravens in the division, and also by the Chargers in the playoff spots, which would dump them out of the playoffs totally. It would need two losses to do that though, a win this week or next week will suffice for the Bengals to get into the playoffs.

It's always been about the ratings. But in 2010 when they showed the Seahawks - Rams there were no other options for games with something on the line no matter what happened earlier. The problem the Falcons - Panthers have are neither of them are big audience draws, so add the poor records and not appealing to many people as the Steelers playing for the division title. And Fox and CBS can't protect any games in week 17.

Win % explains Division standing Bengals currently .679 Steelers .667
Bengals have played a game less so that % will either go up or down tonight.

As for the Playoff issue well the Steelers can lose their last game (finish 10-6) and still have good enough conference record (currently 8-3) to qualify as WC. Bengals could lose last two games and finish 9-6-1 and lose WC to Ravens or Chargers who could end up 10-6.

For some reason I'm reminded of the opening monologue of 'Soap'

Did NBC have it in for CBS?

Fox now has double header of Panthers/Falcons & Lions/Packers, two winner take all division deciding games (surprised NBC didn't go with the Packers over the Steelers for audience value) and all CBS has are the games featuring potential WC's Ravens & Chargers.

Who has the double header this week? Will neutral markets be able to watch both of those FOX matches?

Both have double headers in week 17. Still a chance Atlanta - Carolina could get flexed to CBS, think that might be why they are waiting to see tonight results before the rest. Fox would still be left with Dallas - Washington early, it's a long shot but Dallas are still playing for a bye and will probably be better for FOX than two less high profile losing teams playing for the division. And it is not NBC who have it in for CBS, the NFL have total say in what goes where, the networks can only request.

Apologies for Newbie question!
What time are the NFL likely to decide today what the schedule of week 17 games are and what time are Sky likely to announce what games they're showing?
Will it be today?
Thanks

Bengals/Steelers have been flexed to primtime, so that will be the Channel 4 game. Lions/Packers has been flexed to a 9.25pm UK kick off time - there's a good chance that'll be the game Sky pick for that.
